Work on first phase of Ravi Riverfront City to initiate soon

Work on the first phase of the Ravi Riverfront City will start soon, most probably during the first week of October, and it is believed that the project would be completed before time as the foreign investors have been invited to invest in the new city on the outskirts of the provincial capital.

The features of the new Ravi City would be visible within three to four years, and it would be built on the model of Dubai and Singapore. “The Ravi City will be scattered over an area of 100,000 acres and its buildings will be architectural masterpieces to the world,” said an official of Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) here on Thursday.

He said that the masses were aware of the benefits of the Ravi City, adding that people should play their role in the success of the development of a new city that would address housing, infrastructure, water, and environmental challenges to the historic Lahore.

He dispelled an impression that the land had forcibly been acquired for the development of the new city and said that the affected people would be accommodated through various regulations. He said that the private builders would not be able to harm the interests of the public in the newly planned city.

“The locals will be preferred to others in jobs, health and education facilities in the new city being developed on the banks of the old Ravi,” he said and added that locals of the area, selected for developing Ravi Riverfront City, would have the first right to jobs and a quota would be fixed for them.

انہوں نے اس تاثر کو دور کیا کہ نئے شہر کی ترقی کے لیے زمین زبردستی حاصل کی گئی ہے اور کہا کہ متاثرہ افراد کو مختلف قواعد و ضوابط کے ذریعے رہائش دی جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پرائیویٹ بلڈرز نئے منصوبہ بند شہر میں عوام کے مفادات کو نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکیں گے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پرانے راوی کے کنارے تیار ہونے والے نئے شہر میں مقامی لوگوں کو ملازمتوں ، صحت اور تعلیم کی سہولیات میں دوسروں پر ترجیح دی جائے گی۔ نوکریوں کا پہلا حق اور ان کے لیے کوٹہ مقرر کیا جائے گا۔
