Trial run of Lucky, Thar power plants begins

According to the news sources, With the addition of these plants, the total generation in the southern region corridor will reach 5,530MW. It will further surge to 5,830MW after Jamshoro Power Plant starts commercial operation by end of this year.

According to a letter issued by the National Power Control Centre (System Operations), A department of the National Transmission and Despatch Company both the plants are passing through the test run process before commencing commercial operations.

According to the details, “In the southern region, the commissioning of Lucky Power Plant (600MW) and Thar Energy (300MW) is underway at the moment,” reads the letter.

The plants already in process in the southern region 1,240MW China Hub, 600MW Engro Thar, 1,250MW Port Qasim, 200MW (Wind Energy plants), 1,040MW K-2, and 300MW Hubco are cumulatively generating 4,630MW.

An official while talking to the media has said, “Keeping in view the increasing demand, the construction of some more power plants in the southern corridor is also being planned”

خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق ان پلانٹس کے شامل ہونے سے جنوبی ریجن کوریڈور میں کل پیداوار 5530 میگاواٹ تک پہنچ جائے گی۔ اس سال کے آخر تک جامشورو پاور پلانٹ کے کمرشل آپریشن شروع ہونے کے بعد یہ مزید بڑھ کر 5,830 میگاواٹ ہو جائے گی۔
نیشنل پاور کنٹرول سنٹر (سسٹم آپریشنز) کی طرف سے جاری کردہ ایک خط کے مطابق، نیشنل ٹرانسمیشن اینڈ ڈسپیچ کمپنی کا ایک شعبہ تجارتی آپریشن شروع کرنے سے پہلے دونوں پلانٹس ٹیسٹ رن کے عمل سے گزر رہے ہیں۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق، ’’جنوبی خطے میں اس وقت لکی پاور پلانٹ (600 میگاواٹ) اور تھر انرجی (300 میگاواٹ) کی تعمیر کا کام جاری ہے،‘‘
جنوبی علاقے میں پہلے سے ہی 1,240 میگاواٹ چائنا ہب، 600 میگاواٹ اینگرو تھر، 1,250 میگاواٹ پورٹ قاسم، 200 میگاواٹ (ونڈ انرجی پلانٹس)، 1,040 میگاواٹ کے کے ٹو اور 300 میگاواٹ حبکو کے پلانٹس مجموعی طور پر 4,360 میگاواٹ بجلی پیدا کر رہے ہیں۔
ایک اہلکار نے میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ ’’بڑھتی ہوئی مانگ کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے جنوبی کوریڈور میں کچھ مزید پاور پلانٹس کی تعمیر کا منصوبہ بھی بنایا جا رہا ہے‘‘۔
