Transgender and disabled persons get representation in SLC

According to the news sources, taking a historic and human-friendly decision, the Sindh cabinet has reserved one percent or one seat of membership each for the transgender group and the differently-abled persons in every local council of the province.

“This will help bring the marginalized members of society the transgender people and the differently-abled persons into mainstream society, which is an inclusive approach of the provincial government,” said Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

While addressing a post-cabinet media talk at the CM House on Thursday. He was flanked by provincial ministers Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab, and special assistants Syed Qasim Naveed and Arbab Lutfullah.

He said it has been proposed that the disabled and trans persons will be given representation in the local councils of the province. As per the proposal, one percent membership of the local councils will be reserved for both groups in every council.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق سندھ کابینہ نے تاریخی اور انسان دوست فیصلہ کرتے ہوئے صوبے کی ہر لوکل کونسل میں خواجہ سراؤں اور معذور افراد کے لیے رکنیت کی ایک ایک فیصد یا ایک ایک نشست مختص کر دی ہے۔
وزیر اعلیٰ سید مراد علی شاہ نے کہا کہ "اس سے معاشرے کے پسماندہ افراد کو ٹرانس جینڈر افراد اور مختلف طور پر معذور افراد کو معاشرے کے مرکزی دھارے میں لانے میں مدد ملے گی، جو کہ صوبائی حکومت کا ایک جامع نقطہ نظر ہے۔"
جمعرات کو وزیراعلیٰ ہاؤس میں کابینہ کے بعد میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے ۔ صوبائی وزراء سعید غنی اور ناصر شاہ، کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر مرتضیٰ وہاب اور معاونین خصوصی سید قاسم نوید اور ارباب لطف اللہ بھی ان کے ہمراہ تھے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ تجویز دی گئی ہے کہ صوبے کی لوکل کونسلز میں معذور اور ٹرانس پرسنز کو نمائندگی دی جائے گی۔ تجویز کے مطابق مقامی کونسلوں کی ایک فیصد رکنیت ہر کونسل میں دونوں گروپوں کے لیے مختص ہو گی۔
