Tax evasion will result in blocking of SIM Cards: FBR Chairman

Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Dr. Ashfaq has warned that proof of tax evasion will result in your SIM cards getting blocked, and your electricity and gas connections will be cut off as well.

The promulgation of the presidential ordinance has allowed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to disconnect the mobile phones/SIMs, electricity, and gas connection of non-filers. Dr. Ashfaq said that this will result in an increase in tax revenue.

While briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, he said that Rs. 850 billion in revenue had been collected in the first two months of the current financial year 2021-22.

The members of the Opposition Committee protested against the Chairman’s remarks during the briefing, to which he retorted, “Our good deeds and increase in revenue should be commended”.

فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو (ایف بی آر) کے چیئرمین ڈاکٹر اشفاق نے خبردار کیا ہے کہ ٹیکس چوری کے ثبوت کے نتیجے میں آپ کے سم کارڈ بلاک ہو جائیں گے ، اور آپ کے بجلی اور گیس کے کنکشن بھی منقطع ہو جائیں گے۔

صدارتی آرڈیننس کے نفاذ سے فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو (ایف بی آر) کو نان فائلرز کے موبائل فون/سم ، بجلی اور گیس کنکشن منقطع کرنے کی اجازت مل گئی ہے۔ ڈاکٹر اشفاق نے کہا کہ اس سے ٹیکس ریونیو میں اضافہ ہوگا۔

قومی اسمبلی کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے خزانہ کو بریفنگ دیتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ روپے رواں مالی سال 2021-22 کے پہلے دو ماہ می�� 850 ارب ریونیو اکٹھا کیا گیا۔

اپوزیشن کمیٹی کے ارکان نے بریفنگ کے دوران چیئرمین کے ریمارکس کے خلاف احتجاج کیا ، جس پر انہوں نے جواب دیا ، "ہمارے اچھے کاموں اور آمدنی میں اضافے کو سراہا جانا چاہیے"۔
