TAD attains 315-kanal land adjacent to Harappa

The UNESCO had demanded construction of walls and grill around Harappa. The TAD spent Rs190 million on purchasing nearby lands. Under well adopted policy devised by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the Tourism and Archaeology Department is working hard for preservation of heritage sites like Harappa.

According to the Adviser to CM on Tourism and Archaeology Asif Mehmood, Communication and Works (C&W) Department is finalizing, finishing the auditorium building, which would be used for multiple purposes.

"Electrification work has been completed and Archaeology Directorate is finalizing installation of chairs in Auditorium,"

"This auditorium will be having Tourist Information Centre (TIC) by Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) as well to facilitate and guide local and foreign tourists" - Asif Mehmood.

As TAD did in Shalamar Gardens and at Jehangir's Tomb a photo gallery depicting history of the site will also be established by Archaeology Directorate. A special team of Archeology Directorate had continued its work even during the month of Ramazan, The News learnt.

"Yes, artisans of Archaeology Directorate continued their work even after Iftar,” said the secretary Tourism and Archaeology Department while talking to The News. Tourism and Archaeology Department was planning many programmes to celebrate 100th year of discovering of Harappa however wild spread of Covid19 eclipsed it.

ٹِ اے ڈی نے یونیسکو کے ذریعہ کامیابی کے ساتھ ہڑپہ کو محفوظ بنانے کے بین الاقوامی مطالبے کی تکمیل کے لئے ایک کڑوڑ نوے لاکھ خرچ کرکے ہڑپہ سے ملحقہ 315 کنال اراضی حاصل کی ہے۔

یونیسکو نے ہڑپہ کے آس پاس دیواروں اور گرل کی تعمیر کا مطالبہ کیا تھا۔ ٹی اے ڈی نے قریبی زمینوں کی خریداری پر 1 کروڑ 90 لاکھ روپے خرچ کیے۔ وزیر اعلی عثمان بزدار کی وضع کردہ پالیسی کے تحت ، محکمہ سیاحت اور آثار قدیمہ ہڑپہ جیسے ورثہ والے مقامات کے تحفظ کے لئے سخت کوشش کر رہا ہے۔

سیاحت اور آثار قدیمہ سے متعلق وزیر اعلی کے مشیر آصف محمود کے مطابق ، مواصلات اور ورکس (سی اینڈ ڈبلیو) کا محکمہ آڈیٹوریم کی عمارت کو مکمل کررہا ہے ، جو متعدد مقاصد کے لئے استعمال ہوگا۔

"بجلی کا کام مکمل ہوچکا ہے اور آثار قدیمہ ڈائریکٹوریٹ آڈیٹوریم میں کرسیاں لگانے کو حتمی شکل دے رہا ہے۔"
"اس آڈیٹوریم میں سیاحتی ترقیاتی کارپوریشن پنجاب (ٹی ڈی سی پی) کے ذریعہ ٹورسٹ انفارمیشن سنٹر (ٹی آئی سی) ہوگا اور ساتھ ہی مقامی اور غیر ملکی سیاحوں کی سہولت اور رہنمائی کے لئے بھی۔" - آصف محمود

جیسا کہ ٹی اے ڈی نے شالامار گارڈنز اور جہانگیر کے مقبرے میں اس جگہ کی تاریخ کو ظاہر کرنے والی ایک فوٹو گیلری بھی قائم کی ہوگی۔

محکمہ سیاحت اور آثار قدیمہ کے سیکرٹری نے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا ، "ہاں ، آثار قدیمہ کے نظامت کے کاریگروں نے افطار کے بعد بھی اپنا کام جاری رکھا۔" سیاحت اور محکمہ آثار قدیمہ نے ہڑپہ کی دریافت کے 100 ویں سال کو منانے کے لئے بہت سے پروگراموں کی منصوبہ بندی کر رہی ہے۔
