Supreme Court questions officials on changing the Bhong Interchange location

Raees Munir's lawsuit opposing the relocation of the Bhong Interchange was heard by a two-judge panel of the Supreme Court, which was made up of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.

According to the Planning and Development report, the Attorney General stated that Bhong Interchange was not economically viable.

However, Ahsan Iqbal argued that because the funding for development was cut from Rs1000 billion to Rs550 billion, the majority of development projects had to be abandoned.

Ahsan Iqbal said that they will submit a review petition and inform the court of their position. He told the court that Interchange would be built in the location it requested.

The federal government received notice from the court last month regarding a petition against the relocation of the Bhong Interchange on the Lahore-Karachi Motorway.

The court had sent notice to the federal government, requested a response, and postponed the case's hearing.

بھونگ انٹر چینج کی منتقلی کی مخالفت کرنے والے رئیس منیر کے مقدمے کی سماعت سپریم کورٹ کے دو رکنی پینل نے کی جو جسٹس اعجاز الاحسن اور جسٹس سید مظاہر علی اکبر نقوی پر مشتمل تھا۔
پلاننگ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ رپورٹ کے مطابق اٹارنی جنرل نے کہا کہ بھونگ انٹر چینج معاشی طور پر قابل عمل نہیں ہے۔
تاہم احسن اقبال نے دلیل دی کہ چونکہ ترقیاتی فنڈز 1000 ارب روپے سے کم کر کے 550 ارب روپے کر دیے گئے تھے، اس لیے ترقیاتی منصوبوں کی اکثریت کو ترک کرنا پڑا۔
احسن اقبال نے کہا کہ نظرثانی درخواست جمع کرائیں گے اور عدالت کو اپنے موقف سے آگاہ کریں گے۔ انہوں نے عدالت کو بتایا کہ جس جگہ درخواست کی جائے گی وہاں انٹر چینج تعمیر کیا جائے گا۔
وفاقی حکومت کو گزشتہ ماہ لاہور کراچی موٹر وے پر بھونگ انٹر چینج کی منتقلی کے خلاف درخواست کے حوالے سے عدالت سے نوٹس موصول ہوا تھا۔
عدالت نے وفاقی حکومت کو نوٹس بھیجتے ہوئے جواب طلب کرتے ہوئے کیس کی سماعت ملتوی کردی۔
