Karachi: A strategic underground gas storage unit with a predicted cost of Rs.127 billion is to be developed by Pakistan. It is predicted to be completed by June 2022, reported a news source.
This project aims towards providing a framework for the construction of strategic storage for natural gas. At the moment bankable feasibility is being produced by a consultant through the undertaking of further work and studies related to engineering design. The bankable feasibility is estimated to cost Rs.250 million.
Underground storage is an essential component required by Pakistan due to its depleting natural gas reserves. This has resulted in Pakistan becoming increasingly dependent upon imported LNG day by day. A storage supply would allow Pakistan to receive an integrated and uninterrupted supply of gas since currently, it cannot afford even a small interruption in the imported supply.

اس پروجیکٹ کا مقصد قدرتی گیس کے لیے اسٹریٹجک اسٹوریج کی تعمیر کے لیے ایک فریم ورک فراہم کرنا ہے۔ فی الوقت ایک کنسلٹنٹ کی طرف سے انجینئرنگ ڈیزائن سے متعلق مزید کام اور مطالعات کے ذریعے بینک کے قابل فزیبلٹی تیار کی جا رہی ہے۔ بینک کے قابل فزیبلٹی پر 250 ملین روپے لاگت کا تخمینہ ہے۔
قدرتی گیس کے ذخائر ختم ہونے کی وجہ سے زیر زمین ذخیرہ پاکستان کے لیے ضروری جزو ہے۔ اس کے نتیجے میں پاکستان درآمدی ایل این جی پر دن بدن انحصار کرتا جا رہا ہے۔ ذخیرہ کرنے کی فراہمی پاکستان کو گیس کی مربوط اور بلاتعطل سپلائی حاصل کرنے کی اجازت دے گی کیونکہ فی الحال یہ درآمدی سپلائی میں تھوڑی سی رکاوٹ بھی برداشت نہیں کر سکتا۔
