Smart street library opens window into cultural heart of city

This roadside library is a cultural hub in the city where people can meet, connect, socialize and enjoy the joy of reading.

According to the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the street library is a small book exchange located in neighborhoods to inspire a love of books and reading. The communal aspect of the project is particularly important, especially for people who cannot have enough money to buy books or get to a library.

While talking to the media CDA spokesperson said, the purpose is to encourage books to be recycled and shared and provide any member of the community access to literature and enlivening and activate public spaces.

The concept is to grab a book, read and return it. It is a beautiful display of trust and the citizens are expected to show responsibility towards it and donate their good books too.

While talking to the media, a resident of the F-6 sectors, said “It's a great idea, isn't it? Love that you keep stocking your local little library. The more people who read, the better it will be.”

Dr. Shams-ur-Rehman, said “The libraries play an important role in formal and informal learning and in development and cultural activities. But with the digital media gaining attention, the art of reading has lost somewhere.”

میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے سی ڈی اے کے ترجمان نے کہا کہ اس کا مقصد کتابوں کو ری سائیکل اور شیئر کرنے کی ترغیب دینا اور کمیونٹی کے کسی بھی فرد کو ادب تک رسائی فراہم کرنا اور عوامی مقامات کو زندہ اور فعال بنانا ہے۔
تصور یہ ہے کہ کتاب پکڑو، پڑھو اور واپس کرو۔ یہ اعتماد کا ایک خوبصورت مظاہرہ ہے اور شہریوں سے توقع کی جاتی ہے کہ وہ اس کے تئیں ذمہ داری کا مظاہرہ کریں اور اپنی اچھی کتابیں بھی عطیہ کریں۔
میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے (ایف-6) سیکٹرز کے ایک رہائشی نے کہا کہ یہ بہت اچھا آئیڈیا ہے، ہے نا؟ پسند ہے کہ آپ اپنی مقامی چھوٹی لائبریری کو ذخیرہ کرتے رہیں۔ جتنے زیادہ لوگ پڑھیں گے اتنا ہی اچھا ہوگا۔
ڈاکٹر شمس الرحمان نے کہا کہ لائبریریاں رسمی اور غیر رسمی سیکھنے اور ترقی اور ثقافتی سرگرمیوں میں اہم کردار ادا کرتی ہیں۔ لیکن ڈیجیٹل میڈیا کی توجہ حاصل کرنے کے ساتھ، پڑھنے کا فن کہیں کھو گیا ہے۔"
