Sindh implementing Yellow Line BRT Corridor to improve mobility

The Sindh government, through Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA), Transport and Mass Transit Department (TMTD) along with the financial support of the World Bank, is implementing Karachi Mobility Project - Yellow Line BRT Corridor to improve mobility, accessibility, and safety along the corridor.

Karachi Mobility Project – Yellow Line BRT Corridor is a 21km-long corridor from Dawood Chowrangi to Numaish having two bus depots, 28 stations, two flyovers, nine underpasses, and expected ridership of 300,000 people per day.

According to government information, the bus fleet proposed for the Yellow BRT corridor is 268 diesel-hybrid vehicles. The total cost of the project is $USD 438.9 million.  

Awais Qadir Shah, Minister for Transport & Mass Transit Department, announced that the Karachi Mobility Project was indeed another step forward to address the urban transport issues of the Karachi city.

He further announced that due consideration had been given to uplift the entire BRT corridor from façade to façade in order to ensure a systematic solution to the urban infrastructure issues.

To implement the project, Sindh Mass Transit Authority awards contract to Dar-al-Handasah (Lead international Firm) joint venture NESPAK for consulting services for preparation of detailed design, procurement support, and construction supervision of Karachi Mobility Project – Yellow Line BRT Corridor.

The project will benefit approximately 700,000 people and improve mobility, transit travel times, and safety, reliability, and passenger facilities along the corridor.

It would address the transportation needs of the expansive population, employment growth, transportation, and economic development initiatives.

سندھ حکومت ، سندھ ماس ٹرانزٹ اتھارٹی (ایس ایم ٹی اے) ، ٹرانسپورٹ اور ماس ٹرانزٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ (ٹی ایم ٹی ڈی) کے ذریعے عالمی بینک کی مالی معاونت کے ساتھ ، نقل و حرکت ، رسائی اور حفاظت کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے کراچی موبلٹی پراجیکٹ - یلو لائن بی آر ٹی کوریڈور پر عمل پیرا ہے۔

کراچی موبلٹی پروجیکٹ-یلو لائن بی آر ٹی کوریڈور داؤد چورنگی سے نومیش تک 21 کلومیٹر طویل راہداری ہے جس میں دو بس ڈپو ، 28 اسٹیشن ، دو فلائی اوور ، نو انڈر پاس اور روزانہ 300،000 افراد کی سواری متوقع ہے۔

سرکاری معلومات کے مطابق یلو بی آر ٹی راہداری کے لیے تجویز کردہ بس بیڑے میں 268 ڈیزل ہائبرڈ گاڑیاں ہیں۔ منصوبے کی کل لاگت $ 438.9 ملین ہے۔

وزیر ٹرانسپورٹ اور ماس ٹرانزٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ اویس قادر شاہ نے اعلان کیا کہ کراچی موبلٹی پراجیکٹ کراچی شہر کے شہری ٹرانسپورٹ کے مسائل کو حل کرنے کے لیے ایک اور قدم ہے۔

انہوں نے مزید اعلان کیا کہ شہری بنیادی ڈھانچے کے مسائل کے منظم حل کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے پورے بی آر ٹی کوریڈور کو اگواڑے سے اگلے حصے تک بڑھانے پر غور کیا گیا ہے۔

منصوبے کو عملی جامہ پہنانے کے لیے سندھ ماس ٹرانزٹ اتھارٹی نے دارالہنداسہ (لیڈ انٹرنیشنل فرم) کے مشترکہ منصوبے نیسپاک کو کراچی موبلٹی پروجیکٹ-یلو لائن بی آر ٹی کوریڈور کی تفصیلی ڈیزائن کی تیاری ، خریداری کی معاونت اور تعمیراتی نگرانی کے لیے مشاورتی خدمات کے لیے کنٹریکٹ دیا۔

اس منصوبے سے تقریبا 700،000 افراد مستفید ہوں گے اور نقل و حرکت ، راہداری کے سفر کے اوقات اور راہداری کے ساتھ حفاظت ، وشوسنییتا اور مسافروں کی سہولیات میں بہتری آئے گی۔

یہ وسیع آبادی کی نقل و حمل کی ضروریات ، روزگار میں اضافے ، نقل و حمل اور معاشی ترقی کے اقدامات کو پورا کرے گا۔
