Sindh govt begins consultative process for next Karachi Master Plan

According to the news source, Under UNDP Technical Assistance to Sindh government for the development of the next Karachi Master Plan, a series of consultations is being held at the city level in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Policy & Strategic Planning, P&D Department.

The second and third consultations involving business community representatives, civil society, CBOs, and citizen voices of Karachi were held this week; i.e., Tuesday, 22 and 24 Feb at NED University, Karachi.

According to the details, Participants deliberated on key priorities of the next Master Plan, including business community concerns related to a conducive environment for economic growth in the city, supportive infrastructure & services, business hubs, transport, warehousing, city’s institutional strengths, as well as civil society concerns related to urban resilience, traffic management, security, recreational spaces, urban greening, inclusivity, and provision of basic services needs of Karachi.

Participants included Karachi’s civil society, citizen action forums, local CBOs, private sector engineering firms, architects, builders, and developers, think tanks, representatives of ABAD, Pakistan Engineering Forum, Academia & think-tanks, and Taajir Ittihad unions from various areas of Karachi.

نیوز سورس کے مطابق اگلے کراچی ماسٹر پلان کی ترقی کے لیے حکومت سندھ کو یو این ڈی پی کی ٹیکنیکل اسسٹنس کے تحت ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف اربن پالیسی اینڈ اسٹریٹجک پلاننگ، محکمہ پی اینڈ ڈی کے تعاون سے شہر کی سطح پر مشاورت کا سلسلہ جاری ہے۔
کاروباری برادری کے نمائندوں، سول سوسائٹی، سی بی اوز اور کراچی کے شہریوں کی آوازوں پر مشتمل دوسری اور تیسری مشاورت اس ہفتے منعقد ہوئی۔ یعنی 22 اور 24 فروری بروز منگل این ای ڈی یونیورسٹی، کراچی میں۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق، شرکاء نے اگلے ماسٹر پلان کی اہم ترجیحات پر غور کیا جس میں شہر میں معاشی ترقی کے لیے سازگار ماحول، معاون انفراسٹرکچر اور خدمات، کاروباری مراکز، ٹرانسپورٹ، گودام، شہر کی ادارہ جاتی طاقتوں کے ساتھ ساتھ کاروباری برادری کے خدشات بھی شامل تھے۔ جیسا کہ سول سوسائٹی کے خدشات شہری لچک، ٹریفک مینجمنٹ، سیکورٹی، تفریحی مقامات، شہری سرسبزی، شمولیت اور کراچی کی بنیادی خدمات کی ضروریات کی فراہمی سے متعلق ہیں۔
شرکاء میں کراچی کی سول سوسائٹی، سٹیزن ایکشن فورمز، مقامی سی بی اوز، پرائیویٹ سیکٹر کی انجینئرنگ فرمز، آرکیٹیکٹس، بلڈرز اور ڈویلپرز، تھنک ٹینکس، آباد کے نمائندے، پاکستان انجینئرنگ فورم، اکیڈمیا اور تھنک ٹینکس، اور تاجر اتحاد یونین کے مختلف علاقوں سے تعلق رکھنے والے افراد شامل تھے۔
