Sindh Governor to Contact PM For Launching Green Line in Karachi

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that he would contact Prime Minister Imran Khan in the next few days to get an appointment so that the premier visit Karachi for the inauguration of the Green Line bus service as the pioneering mass transit system of the city.

Ismail was talking to the media after inaugurating a three-day pharma and healthcare exhibition at the Karachi Expo Centre. Answering a query, he said the work to complete the Green Line bus service had entered its final stage.

“The Green Line bus service is like my dream project. It’s the responsibility of the Sindh government to build a mass transit system in Karachi, but the federal government is doing this job instead.”

The governor said that in a day or two he would visit the site of the Green Line bus project, following which he would contact the PM to get an appointment for launching the mass transit service in the city.

He said the Ehsaas Health Insurance Card scheme had been providing the best treatment facilities to such destitute people in Pakistan who had earlier lacked the ability to purchase medicines. He also claimed that medicine prices in the country were the lowest in the entire region.

He welcomed the newly notified code of ethics under which pharmaceutical companies could not extend any benefits to doctors for helping them sell their medicines.

گورنر سندھ عمران اسماعیل نے کہا کہ وہ ملاقات کے لیے آئندہ چند روز میں وزیر اعظم عمران خان سے رابطہ کریں گے تاکہ وزیر اعظم شہر کے ماس ٹرانزٹ سسٹم کے طور پر گرین لائن بس سروس کے افتتاح کے لیے کراچی کا دورہ کریں۔

اسماعیل کراچی ایکسپو سینٹر میں تین روزہ فارما اینڈ ہیلتھ کیئر نمائش کا افتتاح کرنے کے بعد میڈیا سے گفتگو کررہے تھے۔ ایک سوال کے جواب میں انہوں نے کہا کہ گرین لائن بس سروس کو مکمل کرنے کا کام آخری مرحلے میں داخل ہو چکا ہے۔

گرین لائن بس سروس میرے خوابوں کے منصوبے کی طرح ہے۔ کراچی میں ماس ٹرانزٹ سسٹم بنانا سندھ حکومت کی ذمہ داری ہے لیکن وفاقی حکومت اس کے بجائے یہ کام کر رہی ہے۔

گورنر نے کہا کہ ایک یا دو دن میں وہ گرین لائن بس پروجیکٹ کی سائٹ کا دورہ کریں گے، جس کے بعد وہ شہر میں ماس ٹرانزٹ سروس شروع کرنے کے لیے ملاقات کے لیے وزیر اعظم سے رابطہ کریں گے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ احساس ہیلتھ انشورنس کارڈ سکیم پاکستان میں ایسے بے سہارا لوگوں کو علاج کی بہترین سہولیات فراہم کر رہی ہے جو پہلے ادویات خریدنے کی صلاحیت سے محروم تھے۔ انہوں نے یہ بھی دعویٰ کیا کہ ملک میں ادویات کی قیمتیں پورے خطے میں سب سے کم ہیں۔

انہوں نے نئے مطلع شدہ ضابطہ اخلاق کا خیرمقدم کیا جس کے تحت فارماسیوٹیکل کمپنیاں ڈاکٹروں کو ان کی دوائیں فروخت کرنے میں مدد کرنے پر ان کو کوئی فائدہ نہیں دے سکتیں۔
