SECP’s chief tenure extended for another 3 years

According to the news sources, this is really for the very first time in the history of the SECP that a sitting chairman has been awarded an extension. Prime Minister Imran Khan first appointed Aamir Khan as commissioner SECP in December 2018 and was later elevated as chairman in August 2019.

Currently, there are three members of the commission including Aamir Khan, Farrukh Sabzwari, and Sadia Khan.

According to the news sources, the commission is short of two members.  But so far nobody is appointed.  The finance division had advertised it, but no one has been selected to complete the commission. Besides, the government has not yet appointed the chairman of the SECP policy board.

Shaukat Tarin who is the Prime Minister advisor on finance and revenue apprised the federal cabinet on significant reforms featuring legal, structural, regulatory, operational, and product development initiatives by the SECP in the last three years, to further the government's vision of improving ease of doing business, expanding financial inclusion and digitizing corporate processes, develop capital market and strengthen enforcement of laws.

The SECP has accomplished end-to-end digitalization of the company registration process, which has resulted in nearly 60 percent growth in the number of registered companies over the past three years, accumulating to 156,000 companies as of November 30, 2021, from 93,000 in December 2018.

According to the news sources, SECP's collaboration with the PSX has presented an alternative board, the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) to encourage smaller businesses to list equity securities and avail the aids of listing at the exchange.

اسلام آباد: حکومت نے منگل کو سیکیورٹیز اینڈ ایکسچینج کمیشن آف پاکستان (ایس ای سی پی) کے چیئرمین عامر خان کی مدت ملازمت میں مزید تین سال کی توسیع کی منظوری دے دی۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق ایس ای سی پی کی تاریخ میں یہ واقعی پہلی بار ہوا ہے کہ کسی موجودہ چیئرمین کو توسیع دی گئی ہے۔ وزیراعظم عمران خان نے سب سے پہلے عامر خان کو دسمبر 2018 میں کمشنر ایس ای سی پی مقرر کیا تھا اور بعد ازاں اگست 2019 میں چیئرمین کے عہدے پر فائز ہوئے۔
اس وقت کمیشن کے تین ارکان ہیں جن میں عامر خان، فرخ سبزواری اور سعدیہ خان شامل ہیں۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق کمیشن میں دو ارکان کی کمی ہے۔ لیکن ابھی تک کسی کا تقرر نہیں ہوا۔ فنانس ڈویژن نے اس کی تشہیر کی تھی لیکن کمیشن مکمل کرنے کے لیے کسی کو منتخب نہیں کیا گیا۔ اس کے علاوہ حکومت نے ابھی تک ایس ای سی پی کے پالیسی بورڈ کے چیئرمین کا تقرر نہیں کیا۔
شوکت ترین جو کہ وزیر اعظم کے مشیر برائے خزانہ اور محصول ہیں نے وفاقی کابینہ کو ایس ای سی پی کی جانب سے گزشتہ تین سالوں میں قانونی، ڈھانچہ جاتی، ریگولیٹری، آپریشنل اور مصنوعات کی ترقی کے اقدامات سے متعلق اہم اصلاحات سے آگاہ کیا، تاکہ حکومت کی آسانی کو بہتر بنانے کے وژن کو آگے بڑھایا جا سکے۔ کاروبار کرنا، مالی شمولیت کو وسعت دینا اور کارپوریٹ عمل کو ڈیجیٹل بنانا، کیپٹل مارکیٹ کو ترقی دینا اور قوانین کے نفاذ کو مضبوط بنانا۔
ایس ای سی پی نے کمپنی کی رجسٹریشن کے عمل کو مکمل ڈیجیٹلائز کرنے کا کام مکمل کیا ہے، جس کے نتیجے میں گزشتہ تین سالوں میں رجسٹرڈ کمپنیوں کی تعداد میں تقریباً 60 فیصد اضافہ ہوا ہے، جو کہ 30 نومبر 2021 تک 156,000 کمپنیوں تک جمع ہو گئی ہیں، جو کہ 93,000 کمپنیاں تھیں۔ دسمبر 2018۔
خبر کے ذرائع کے مطابق، (ایس ای سی پی) کے (پی ایس ایکس) کے ساتھ اشتراک نے ایک متبادل بورڈ، گروتھ انٹرپرائز مارکیٹ (جی ای ایم) پیش کیا ہے تاکہ چھوٹے کاروباروں کو ایکویٹی سیکیورٹیز کی فہرست بنانے اور ایکسچینج میں لسٹنگ کی امداد حاصل کرنے کی ترغیب دی جائے۔
