Islamabad: According to the news sources, the Supreme Court has reserved its ruling on the Bahria Town Funds case.
The decision has been reserved on the suggestion of the federal government to constitute a high-powered committee to ensure transparency in the utilization of funds being deposited by Bahria Town Karachi.
The federal government, through a written application, had applied to transfer the funds deposited in the apex court by Bahria Town to its Public Account. However, the Sindh government asked to utilize the same funds for the development projects they had initiated.
A three-judge Supreme Court implementation bench, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, also decided to conduct a fresh survey by the Survey of Pakistan to determine the actual occupation of lands in possession of the Bahria Town Karachi.
Last year in March, a three-judge SC bench had approved PKR 460 billion offer put forth by Bahria Town to implement May 2018 judgment in which it was decided that the grant of land to Malir Development Authority (MDA) by the Sindh government, its exchange with the land of Bahria Town Karachi and any further transfers were illegal and bear no legal existence.
