Rs21b water treatment plant to be built in Punjab

According to the news sources, Managing Director Wasa M Tanveer said this while briefing Provincial Minister for Housing Malik Asad Khokhar during his visit to Wasa Head Office here on Tuesday.

DMD Wasa Ghafran Ahmed and other senior officials of Wasa were present on the occasion. MD Wasa M Tanveer briefed the minister on monsoon preparations and said that 100 cusecs of water will be taken from the BRB canal and the under-construction Surface Water Treatment Plant will purify it.

According to the details, He said the estimated cost of the Surface Water Treatment Plant was Rs21 billion and will be completed in collaboration with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

According to the news sources, MD Wasa revealed that more than 1 million population will benefit from this project. “With this project, clean drinking water will reach Shadipura, Mustafaabad, Fatehgarh, Baghbanpura,” revealed MD Wasa. The Minister of Housing directed Wasa to expedite the work on this mega project. The minister also reviewed the monsoon preparations and directed WASA to complete the ongoing construction of underground water tanks before the monsoon. He further directed that the desalination operation should be completed before the monsoon on an emergency basis as no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق یہ بات منیجنگ ڈائریکٹر واسا ایم تنویر نے منگل کو یہاں واسا ہیڈ آفس کے دورے کے موقع پر صوبائی وزیر ہاؤسنگ ملک اسد کھوکھر کو بریفنگ دیتے ہوئے کہی۔
اس موقع پر ڈی ایم ڈی واسا غفران احمد اور واسا کے دیگر اعلیٰ حکام بھی موجود تھے۔ ایم ڈی واسا ایم تنویر نے وزیر کو مون سون کی تیاریوں پر بریفنگ دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ بی آر بی کینال سے 100 کیوسک پانی لیا جائے گا اور زیر تعمیر سرفیس واٹر ٹریٹمنٹ پلانٹ اسے صاف کرے گا۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق انہوں نے کہا کہ سرفیس واٹر ٹریٹمنٹ پلانٹ کی تخمینہ لاگت 21 ارب روپے ہے اور اسے ایشین انفراسٹرکچر انویسٹمنٹ بینک کے تعاون سے مکمل کیا جائے گا۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق ایم ڈی واسا نے انکشاف کیا کہ اس منصوبے سے 10 لاکھ سے زائد آبادی مستفید ہو گی۔ ایم ڈی واسا نے انکشاف کیا کہ اس منصوبے سے پینے کا صاف پانی شادی پورہ، مصطفی آباد، فتح گڑھ، باغبانپورہ تک پہنچے گا۔ وزیر ہاؤسنگ نے واسا کو اس میگا پراجیکٹ پر کام تیز کرنے کی ہدایت کی۔ صوبائی وزیر نے مون سون کی تیاریوں کا بھی جائزہ لیا اور واسا کو ہدایت کی کہ زیر زمین پانی کے ٹینکوں کی جاری تعمیر کو مون سون سے قبل مکمل کیا جائے۔ انہوں نے مزید ہدایت کی کہ ڈی سیلینیشن آپریشن مون سون سے قبل ہنگامی بنیادوں پر مکمل کیا جائے کیونکہ اس سلسلے میں کسی قسم کی غفلت برداشت نہیں کی جائے گی۔
