Rs1.672 bn approved for maintenance of KP roads and highways

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan gave the nod to the Annual Maintenance Plan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA) for the financial year 2021-22 while chairing the 20th meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Council, said a handout.
The provincial cabinet members Ishtiaq Urmer and Riaz Khan, secretary Communication & Works and others attended the meeting. The maintenance plan will cost Rs 1.672 billion. Out of this Rs, 1.200 billion will be provided by the provincial government while Rs. 472 million by the PKHA from its own resources.
The plan will include rehabilitation of flood-affected roads, construction of new toll plazas, field office for PKHA and other operational works.
The chief minister directed the PKHA officials to submit a detailed report on the funds allocated under the Maintenance Plan of the last financial year along with the maintenance work done.
The council recommended that the proposed budget should be presented to the provincial cabinet for final approval.
The meeting decided to make necessary amendments to the PKHA Act to authorize the Highways Council to approve the annual budget on the analogy of other autonomous bodies of the KP government.
The council approved the provincial nation of four different roads to ensure their better management and maintenance. These roads include 35 km Sheringal Patrak Road, 126 km Topi -Buner Road, 85 km Thakot-Darband Road and 61 km Bannu-Miranshah Road.
The meeting approved the creation of new posts required to strengthen PKHA and increase its capacity. Earlier, the participants of the meeting were briefed about the new project of roads and highways included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) under PKHA.

وزیراعلیٰ محمود خان نے خیبر پختونخوا ہائی ویز اتھارٹی (پی کے ایچ اے) کے مالی سال 2021-22 کے سالانہ دیکھ بھال کے منصوبے کی منظوری دیتے ہوئے خیبرپختونخوا ہائی ویز کونسل کے 20 ویں اجلاس کی صدارت کی۔

صوبائی کابینہ کے ارکان اشتیاق ارمر اور ریاض خان ، سیکرٹری مواصلات و ورکس اور دیگر نے اجلاس میں شرکت کی۔ دیکھ بھال کے منصوبے پر 1.672 ارب روپے لاگت آئے گی۔ اس میں سے 1.200 ارب روپے صوبائی حکومت فراہم کرے گی پی کے ایچ اے نے اپنے وسائل سے 472 ملین۔

اس منصوبے میں سیلاب سے متاثرہ سڑکوں کی بحالی ، نئے ٹول پلازوں کی تعمیر ، پی کے ایچ اے کے لیے فیلڈ آفس اور دیگر آپریشنل کام شامل ہوں گے۔

وزیراعلیٰ نے پی کے ایچ اے کے عہدیداروں کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ گذشتہ مالی سال کے مینٹیننس پلان کے تحت مختص فنڈز کے ساتھ ساتھ کئے گئے دیکھ بھال کے کام کے بارے میں تفصیلی رپورٹ پیش کریں۔

کونسل نے سفارش کی کہ مجوزہ بجٹ حتمی منظوری کے لیے صوبائی کابینہ کے سامنے پیش کیا جائے۔ اجلاس نے پی کے ایچ اے ایکٹ میں ضروری ترامیم کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا تاکہ ہائی ویز کونسل کو کے پی حکومت کے دیگر خود مختار اداروں کے مشابہت پر سالانہ بجٹ کی منظوری کا اختیار دیا جا سکے۔

کونسل نے چار مختلف سڑکوں کو صوبائی بنانے کی منظوری دی تاکہ ان کے بہتر انتظام اور دیکھ بھال کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔ ان سڑکوں میں 35 کلومیٹر شیرنگل پترک روڈ ، 126 کلومیٹر ٹوپی بونیر روڈ ، 85 کلومیٹر تھاکوٹ دربند روڈ اور 61 کلومیٹر بنوں میران شاہ روڈ شامل ہیں۔

اجلاس نے پی کے ایچ اے کو مضبوط بنانے اور اس کی استعداد بڑھانے کے لیے درکار نئی پوسٹیں بنانے کی منظوری دی۔ قبل ازیں اجلاس کے شرکاء کو PKHA کے تحت سالانہ ترقیاتی پروگرام (ADP) میں شامل سڑکوں اور شاہراہوں کے نئے منصوبے کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی گئی۔
