Reko Diq mining agreement beneficial for Balochistan: Supreme Court

Over the course of 47 years, Balochistan will collect $32 billion from the mining industry.

A member of the bench named Justice Yahya Afridi inquired as to whether there was any provision in case any other priceless minerals were found during excavation or whether the corporation would only be allowed to mine copper and gold.

According to Salahuddin Ahmed, the provincial administration of Balochistan would hold direct authority over 10 percent of the province's 25 percent share, while the other 15 percent would be held through offshore holding corporations.

The counsel added that it was a requirement of the finance businesses that the entire process be done through offshore entities, and that the provincial government would have access to, examination of, and audit of the accounts of these holding companies.

The attorney, however, gave the court assurances that Balochistan will have control over and the authority to audit every step of the project.

جسٹس یحییٰ آفریدی نامی بنچ کے رکن نے استفسار کیا کہ کیا کھدائی کے دوران کوئی اور قیمتی معدنیات ملنے کی صورت میں کوئی انتظام ہے یا کارپوریشن کو صرف تانبے اور سونے کی کان کنی کی اجازت ہوگی۔
صلاح الدین احمد کے مطابق، بلوچستان کی صوبائی انتظامیہ صوبے کے 25 فیصد حصے میں سے 10 فیصد پر براہ راست اختیار رکھتی ہے، جبکہ باقی 15 فیصد آف شور ہولڈنگ کارپوریشنز کے ذریعے حاصل کی جائے گی۔
وکیل نے مزید کہا کہ یہ فنانس بزنسز کا تقاضا ہے کہ یہ سارا عمل آف شور اداروں کے ذریعے کیا جائے، اور صوبائی حکومت کو ان ہولڈنگ کمپنیوں کے اکاؤنٹس تک رسائی، جانچ اور آڈٹ کرنا ہوگا۔
تاہم اٹارنی نے عدالت کو یقین دہانی کرائی کہ بلوچستان کا کنٹرول ہوگا اور منصوبے کے ہر قدم کے آڈٹ کا اختیار ہوگا۔
