The Punjab government stopped the deputy commissioners from issuing no-objection certificates to housing societies seeking to build structures on greenbelts.
Through a communique, Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik conveyed the policy change to all deputy commissioners.
The Punjab government has decided that no housing society will be built on greenbelts, and they could only be built in the residential areas.
This step has been taken to save environment, and prevent destruction of greenery, home to wild animals, and to secure trees.

حکومت پنجاب نے فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ گرین بیلٹس پر کوئی ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹی نہیں بنے گی ، اور وہ صرف رہائشی علاقوں میں ہی بنائے جاسکتے ہیں۔
یہ قدم ماحولیات کو بچانے ، اور جنگلی جانوروں کے گھروں کو روکنے اور درختوں کو محفوظ رکھنے کے لئے اٹھایا گیا ہے۔
