Punjab Becoming Destination of Global Investments: Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal

Punjab is rapidly becoming the destination of choice for investments with a total potential investment of Rs45bn in the pipeline across various sectors from around the globe, said Minister for Industries, Commerce, Investment, and Skill Development Department Mian Aslam Iqbal while witnessing the signing of around 20 MoUs during the Punjab International Business conference organized in Dubai International Financial City.

The conference was organized by the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) as part of their #PunjabEase Going Global initiative and promotion of Punjab at the Pakistan Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai.

The conference was hosted by Mian Aslam Iqbal on behalf of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. Minister for Finance Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister for Higher Education & IT Raja Yasir Humayun, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, His Excellency Afzaal Mahmood, SACM on PHA and Tourism Asif Mehmood, and CEO Board of Investment and Trade Dr. Erfa Iqbal were present at the conference, along with a number of local dignitaries, members of the local and international business community, Pakistani diaspora, and investors from the UAE.

Mian Aslam Iqbal said that the province has not only witnessed new international brands investing in Punjab but also the existing local and global players have expressed satisfaction and enthusiasm by expanding their presence and operations.

He introduced two new initiatives being undertaken by the Punjab government in an effort to promote and facilitate investments and the growth of start-ups in the province.

The first initiative is the Investment Portal, an online resource center that is being launched to aid investors and the business community in Pakistan and abroad.

This is being launched in parallel with the start-up moot and project exhibitions being displayed at the Pakistan Pavilion, to ensure the timely facilitation of actual or potential investors.

کانفرنس کا انعقاد پنجاب بورڈ آف انویسٹمنٹ اینڈ ٹریڈ (PBIT) نے اپنے #PunjabEase Going Global اقدام اور پاکستان پویلین ایکسپو 2020 دبئی میں پنجاب کے فروغ کے ایک حصے کے طور پر کیا تھا۔

وزیراعلیٰ عثمان بزدار کی جانب سے کانفرنس کی میزبانی میاں اسلم اقبال نے کی۔ اس موقع پر وزیر خزانہ ہاشم جواں بخت، وزیر برائے ہائر ایجوکیشن اینڈ آئی ٹی راجہ یاسر ہمایوں، یو اے ای میں پاکستان کے سفیر محترم افضل محمود، پی ایچ اے اور سیاحت کے SACM آصف محمود اور سی ای او بورڈ آف انویسٹمنٹ اینڈ ٹریڈ ڈاکٹر ارفع اقبال بھی موجود تھے۔ کانفرنس میں متعدد مقامی معززین، مقامی اور بین الاقوامی کاروباری برادری کے ارکان، پاکستانی تارکین وطن اور متحدہ عرب امارات کے سرمایہ کاروں نے شرکت کی۔

میاں اسلم اقبال نے کہا کہ صوبے نے نہ صرف پنجاب میں نئے بین الاقوامی برانڈز کی سرمایہ کاری کا مشاہدہ کیا ہے بلکہ موجودہ مقامی اور عالمی کھلاڑیوں نے بھی اپنی موجودگی اور آپریشنز کو وسعت دے کر اطمینان اور جوش کا اظہار کیا ہے۔

انہوں نے پنجاب حکومت کی جانب سے صوبے میں سرمایہ کاری اور سٹارٹ اپس کی ترقی کو فروغ دینے اور سہولت فراہم کرنے کی کوششوں میں شروع کیے جانے والے دو نئے اقدامات کا تعارف کرایا۔

پہلا اقدام انوسٹمنٹ پورٹل ہے، ایک آن لائن ریسورس سینٹر جو پاکستان میں سرمایہ کاروں اور کاروباری برادری کی مدد کے لیے شروع کیا جا رہا ہے۔

یہ پاکستان پویلین میں سٹارٹ اپ موٹ اور پراجیکٹ ایگزیبیشنز کے متوازی طور پر شروع کیا جا رہا ہے، تاکہ حقیقی یا ممکنہ سرمایہ کاروں کی بروقت سہولت کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔
