PM Reviews Progress on Ravi Riverfront and Bundal Island Projects

There is a constant chaos over this issue and Prime Minister directed Sindh Governor to resolve it with consentient of provincial government.

Prime Minister issued the directives to assess the progress over Ravi Riverfront Urban Development in Punjab and Bundal island projects in Sindh, when latter called on him after the meeting that took place In Prime Minister House. A brief statement has been given by prime minister which says that The Bundal island project will give birth to great opportunities of employment and investment.

This meeting has been attended by Ravi Urban Development Authority Chairman Rashid Aziz, Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority Chairman retired Lt Gen Anwar Ali Haider and the chief secretaries of Sindh and Punjab.

Although no one has been appointed for the post of newly established Pakistan Island Development Authority (PIDA), but the meeting was attended by its chairman been hired through controversial presidential ordinance, quoted in official handout. Later, government sources has later told that Mr Imran Amin joined meeting as the acting chairman of PIDA. While the ordinance said that the federal government has appoint someone for this post who is a serving or retired grade-22 bureaucrat, armed forces serving or retired officer not below the rank of a lieutenant general or equal to it, a business man or an experienced professional; to serve as PIDA chairman for four years period. PPP`s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized this decision and compared it with unlawfui annexation of Jaamu and Kashmir last year by Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

 He further stated “seeks to annex these lands/islands which are properties of the provinces, to exploit them for financial gain by allowing crony capitalists to undertake housing and such other projects including tourism, which has been devolved to the provinces” under the 18th Amendment.

In a news conference, Sindh Governor stated that Sindh government have not understood the significance of Bundal island project. Mr Ismael quoted that large portion of revenue generation from the project will be given to Sindh Government and federal government`s only interest in it is to encourage foreign investments amounting $50 billion. Prime Minister had meeting with trade organization delegations of Karachi and heard about difficulties they face in business related sectors.

During the meeting of National Coordination Committee for SMEs, prime minister directed minister for industries to develop roadmap according to timelines for enactment over proposed SME policy as early as possible, with the consentient of all provinces.

اسلام آباد: گورنر سندھ ، عمران اسماعیل کو وزیراعظم نے ہدایت کی ہے کہ وہ دونوں جزیروں کو تجارت اور سرمایہ کاری کے محوروں ، بین الاقوامی سیاحتی مقامات میں تبدیل کرنے کے لئے کنٹرول سے متعلق امور کو حل کریں۔ اس معاملے پر مستقل انتشار ہے اور وزیر اعظم نے گورنر سندھ کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ صوبائی حکومت کے رضامندی سے اس کو حل کریں۔ 

وزیر اعظم ہاؤس میں ہونے والی اس میٹنگ کے بعد جب وزیر اعظم نے ان سے ملاقات کی تو پنجاب میں راوی ریفرنٹ اربن ڈویلپمنٹ اور سندھ میں بنڈل جزیرے کے منصوبوں پر پیشرفت کا جائزہ لینے کی ہدایت جاری کی۔ وزیر اعظم کی طرف سے ایک مختصر بیان دیا گیا ہے جس میں کہا گیا ہے کہ بنڈل جزیرے کا منصوبہ روزگار اور سرمایہ کاری کے عظیم مواقع کو جنم دے گا۔ اس اجلاس میں راوی اربن ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی کے چیئرمین رشید عزیز ، نیا پاکستان ہاؤسنگ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی کے چیئرمین ریٹائرڈ لیفٹیننٹ جنرل انور علی حیدر اور سندھ اور پنجاب کے چیف سیکرٹریز نے شرکت کی۔ 

اگرچہ نئے قائم کردہ پاکستان آئلینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (پی آئی ڈی اے) کے عہدے کے لئے کسی کی تقرری نہیں کی گئی ہے ، لیکن اس اجلاس میں اس کے چیئرمین نے شرکت کی تھی ، جسے متنازعہ صدارتی آرڈیننس کے ذریعے لیا گیا تھا ، جس کا حوالہ سرکاری طور پر پیش کیا گیا۔ بعد میں ، سرکاری ذرائع نے بعد میں بتایا ہے کہ مسٹر عمران امین PIDA کے قائم مقام چیئرمین کی حیثیت سے اجلاس میں شامل ہوئے۔ جبکہ آرڈیننس میں کہا گیا ہے کہ وفاقی حکومت نے اس عہدے کے لئے کوئی فرد مقرر کیا ہے جو حاضر سروس یا ریٹائرڈ گریڈ -22 کا بیوروکریٹ ہے ، مسلح افواج کی خدمت کر رہا ہے یا ریٹائرڈ افسر ، لیفٹیننٹ جنرل کے عہدے سے کم یا اس کے برابر نہیں ہے ، ایک کاروباری شخص یا تجربہ کار پیشہ ورانہ چار سال کی مدت کے لئے پیڈا کے چیئرمین کی حیثیت سے خدمات انجام دیں۔ پی پی پی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے اس فیصلے کو تنقید کا نشانہ بنایا اور اس کا موازنہ ہندوستان کے وزیر اعظم مسٹر نریندر مودی کے ذریعہ پچھلے سال جموں اور کشمیر کے غیر قانونی قبضہ سے کیا۔

 انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ "18 ویں ترمیم کے تحت ،" ان زمینوں / جزیروں کو جو صوبوں کی جائیدادیں ہیں ، سے منسلک کرنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں ، تاکہ سرمایہ دار سرمایہ داروں کو رہائش فراہم کرنے اور سیاحت سمیت ایسے دیگر منصوبوں کو شروع کرنے کی اجازت دے کر مالی فائدہ کے لئے ان کا استحصال کیا جائے ، جو صوبوں کو منتقل کردیا گیا ہے۔ " . 

ایک نیوز کانفرنس میں ، گورنر سندھ نے بتایا کہ سندھ حکومت نے بنڈل جزیرے کے منصوبے کی اہمیت کو نہیں سمجھا ہے۔ مسٹر اسماعیل نے بتایا کہ اس منصوبے سے حاصل ہونے والی آمدنی کا بڑا حصہ سندھ حکومت اور وفاقی حکومت کو دیا جائے گا جس میں اس میں صرف دلچسپی ہے کہ وہ 50 ارب ڈالر کی غیر ملکی سرمایہ کاری کی حوصلہ افزائی کرے۔ وزیر اعظم نے کراچی کی تجارتی تنظیم کے وفود سے ملاقات کی اور انہیں کاروبار سے متعلقہ شعبوں میں درپیش مشکلات کے بارے میں سنا۔ قومی رابطہ کمیٹی برائے ایس ایم ایز کے اجلاس کے دوران ، وزیر اعظم نے وزیر صنعتوں کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ تمام صوبوں کی رضامندی کے ساتھ مجوزہ ایس ایم ای پالیسی پر جلد سے جلد عملدرآمد کے لئے ٹائم لائن کے مطابق روڈ میپ تیار کریں۔
