PM House to be converted to university in 72 months

According to the bill, which has already been passed by the National Assembly, the project once started, will take 72 months to complete.

According to the news sources, Last year, officials from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the direction of the Prime Minister Office, had visited the Sir Syed Memorial Society building in G-5. The HEC and CDA had later shared a report with the PM office, stating the building was suitable for starting the university.

According to the details, The University of Engineering and Emerging Technology Bill 2022 was tabled in the Senate by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Khan on behalf of Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.

Chairman Mohammad Sadiq Sanjrani referred the bill to the Senate Standing Committee on Education for consideration. In October last year, the National Assembly standing committee had approved the bill and last month the National Assembly passed it along the mini-budget and some other bills.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق گزشتہ سال وزیراعظم آفس کی ہدایت پر ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن (ایچ ای سی) اور کیپیٹل ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (سی ڈی اے) کے حکام نے جی فائیو میں واقع سرسید میموریل سوسائٹی کی عمارت کا دورہ کیا تھا۔ ایچ ای سی اور سی ڈی اے نے بعد میں وزیر اعظم آفس کے ساتھ ایک رپورٹ شیئر کی تھی جس میں کہا گیا تھا کہ یہ عمارت یونیورسٹی شروع کرنے کے لیے موزوں ہے۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق وزیر مملکت برائے پارلیمانی امور علی محمد خان نے وزیر تعلیم شفقت محمود کی جانب سے دی یونیورسٹی آف انجینئرنگ اینڈ ایمرجنگ ٹیکنالوجی بل 2022 سینیٹ میں پیش کیا۔
چیئرمین محمد صادق سنجرانی نے بل غور کے لیے سینیٹ کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے تعلیم کو بھجوا دیا۔ گزشتہ سال اکتوبر میں قومی اسمبلی کی قائمہ کمیٹی نے اس بل کی منظوری دی تھی اور گزشتہ ماہ قومی اسمبلی نے اسے منی بجٹ اور بعض دیگر بلوں کے ساتھ منظور کیا تھا۔
