PM directs steps to prevent chaotic urban growth

According to the news sources, while chairing the meeting of the committee on housing and construction and Ravi Urban Development Authority, Central Business District, and Nullah Lai Expressway projects, the Prime minister stressed the need for early completion of the government’s flagship urban development projects.

During the meeting of the National Coordinating Committee on Housing, Construction, and Development, Prime minister Imran khan directed that the construction of commercial buildings in public-private partnerships in the expensive sectors of Islamabad.

He further added that the government was fulfilling its promise of building low-cost housing for the poor and middle class. In this regard, he added, loans worth Rs38 billion had been disbursed so far for the construction of houses.

“For the first time in the history of the country, 12,400 low cost and standard flats are being provided to the slum dwellers of Islamabad,” Imran said.

He further added that the boundaries of all the cities should be demarcated in order to protect green belts.

ہاؤسنگ، تعمیرات اور ترقی کی قومی رابطہ کمیٹی کے اجلاس کے دوران وزیراعظم عمران خان نے اسلام آباد کے مہنگے سیکٹرز میں پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ میں کمرشل عمارتوں کی تعمیر کی ہدایت کی۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ حکومت غریب اور متوسط طبقے کے لیے کم قیمت مکانات کی تعمیر کا اپنا وعدہ پورا کر رہی ہے۔ اس حوالے سے انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ گھروں کی تعمیر کے لیے اب تک 38 ارب روپے کے قرضے جاری کیے جا چکے ہیں۔
عمران نے کہا کہ ملک کی تاریخ میں پہلی بار اسلام آباد کی کچی آبادیوں کو 12,400 کم قیمت اور معیاری فلیٹس فراہم کیے جا رہے ہیں۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ گرین بیلٹس کے تحفظ کے لیے تمام شہروں کی حدود کی حد بندی کی جائے۔
