Pakistan invites Hungary to invest in CPEC SEZs

Pakistan and Hungary inaugurated the bilateral trade and economic window and business forum during a virtual meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Foreign Minister of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.

More than 100 Hungarian and Pakistani companies attended the event.

Qureshi invited Hungarian companies to take advantage of the investor-friendly climate in Pakistan to enter into joint ventures with Pakistani companies, especially in the SEZs under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

Qureshi also called for Hungarian expertise in the fields of agriculture and food, environment, water resource management, engineering, vocational training, and urban planning.

Szijjarto said boosting linkages in all areas, particularly the economy, trade, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges, would lead to realizing the economic potential between the two countries. Minister Szijjarto said Hungary’s policy of opening towards the East would provide a good impetus to Pakistan-Hungary relations.

The $60 billion CPEC kick-started five years back concentrating mainly on the construction of roads and motorways and power plants to ensure energy security in the wake of massive power shortfall.

Within the last couple of years, a series of power projects transformed the country into an energy-surplus destination from the power-deficient one. CPEC framework envisaged 10,000 megawatts of production capacity.

The invitation to the central European country, a member of the European Union block, came on the heels of an invitation to Japanese, British, and other investors to participate in SEZs. Under the CPEC framework, nine economic zones dedicated to industrial development with incentives were to be set up.

Tax exemptions for expatriates till 2040 were proposed as an incentive to attract investments in SEZs.

The government is expecting $1.3 billion worth of export revenue from industrial chemicals through establishing only SEZs dedicated to biotechnology. It is working on details to set up special economic zones to promote research in chemicals and biotechnology, initially in some major cities of the country.

اس پروگرام میں 100 سے زیادہ ہنگری اور پاکستانی کمپنیوں نے شرکت کی۔

قریشی نے ہنگری کی کمپنیوں کو پاکستان میں سرمایہ کار دوست ماحول سے فائدہ اٹھانے کی دعوت دی۔

قریشی نے زراعت اور خوراک ، ماحولیات ، آبی وسائل کے انتظام ، انجینئرنگ ، پیشہ ورانہ تربیت اور شہری منصوبہ بندی کے شعبوں میں ہنگری کی مہارت پر بھی زور دیا۔

سیزجارٹو نے کہا کہ تمام شعبوں خصوصا the معیشت ، تجارت اور عوام سے عوام کے تبادلے میں رابطے کو فروغ دینے سے دونوں ممالک کے مابین معاشی صلاحیت کا احساس ہوگا۔ وزیر سیزجارٹو نے کہا کہ ہنگری کی مشرق کی طرف کھلنے کی پالیسی سے پاکستان ہنگری تعلقات کو فروغ ملے گا۔

ساٹھ بلین سی پی ای سی کی کک شروع ہوئی جس نے پانچ سال پہلے بنیادی طور پر سڑکوں اور موٹر ویز اور بجلی گھروں کی تعمیر پر توجہ مرکوز کی تھی تاکہ بجلی کی بڑے پیمانے پر قلت کے بعد توانائی کی حفاظت کو یقینی بنایا جاسکے۔

دو ہزار چالیس تک غیر ملکیوں کو ٹیکس میں چھوٹ سرمایہ کاری کو راغب کرنے کے لئے ترغیبی کے طور پر تجویز کی گئی تھی۔

حکومت بائیوٹیکنالوجی کے لئے صرف ایس ای زی کے قیام کے ذریعے صنعتی کیمیکلز سے 3 1.3 بلین ڈالر کی برآمدات کی توقع کر رہی ہے۔ ابتدائی طور پر ملک کے کچھ بڑے شہروں میں ، کیمیکلز اور بائیوٹیکنالوجی کی تحقیق کو فروغ دینے کے خصوصی معاشی زون کے قیام کے لئے تفصیلات پر کام کر رہا ہے۔
