Nullah Leh Expressway Project To Help Control Flash Flooding

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah has said that the Nullah Leh Expressway project would help control flash flooding during heavy rains in Rawalpindi city particularly in low-lying areas of the town.

He said that the Nullah Leh Expressway project would be a game-changer project for the development of the city.

The Commissioner who is also holding DG RDA charge commended NESPAK Private Company for its tireless work on the Nullah Leh Expressway project.

Nullah Leh Expressway project would be completed at a cost of around Rs100 billion, he added.

He directed the authorities that the project should be started as soon as possible and all-out efforts should be made for its completion within the stipulated time frame.

The project would also help resolve traffic congestion problem on the city roads, he said, adding, with the completion of this project, the environment of the city would also improve.

According to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) spokesman, the Expressway’s width had been reduced from 35-50 meters to 25-35 meters due to which the land area was now reduced.

He informed that the project for this corridor would be carried out by a private party, NESPAK without the government funds.

The proposal for the Lai Expressway project was being sent to the public-private partnership (PPP) Board for approval and would be tendered after approval, he added.

کمشنر راولپنڈی ڈویژن سید گلزار حسین شاہ نے کہا ہے کہ نالہ لئی ایکسپریس وے منصوبہ راولپنڈی شہر بالخصوص قصبے کے نشیبی علاقوں میں شدید بارشوں کے دوران سیلابی ریلے کو کنٹرول کرنے میں مدد دے گا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ نالہ لئی ایکسپریس وے منصوبہ شہر کی ترقی کے لیے گیم چینجر منصوبہ ثابت ہو گا۔

کمشنر جو ڈی جی آر ڈی اے کا چارج بھی رکھتے ہیں نے نالہ لئی ایکسپریس وے پراجیکٹ پر انتھک محنت کرنے پر نیسپاک پرائیویٹ کمپنی کی تعریف کی۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ نالہ لئی ایکسپریس وے منصوبہ تقریباً 100 ارب روپے کی لاگت سے مکمل کیا جائے گا۔

انہوں نے حکام کو ہدایت کی کہ اس منصوبے کو جلد از جلد شروع کیا جائے اور اسے مقررہ مدت میں مکمل کرنے کے لیے ہر ممکن کوشش کی جائے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ اس منصوبے سے شہر کی سڑکوں پر ٹریفک جام کے مسئلے کو حل کرنے میں بھی مدد ملے گی، انہوں نے کہا کہ اس منصوبے کی تکمیل سے شہر کا ماحول بھی بہتر ہو گا۔

راولپنڈی ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (آر ڈی اے) کے ترجمان کے مطابق ایکسپریس وے کی چوڑائی 35 سے 50 میٹر سے کم ہو کر 25 سے 35 میٹر رہ گئی تھی جس کی وجہ سے اب زمین کا رقبہ کم ہو گیا ہے۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ اس کوریڈور کا منصوبہ ایک پرائیویٹ پارٹی نیسپاک حکومتی فنڈز کے بغیر انجام دے گی۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ نالہ لئی ایکسپریس وے منصوبے کی تجویز پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ (پی پی پی) بورڈ کو منظوری کے لیے بھیجی جا رہی ہے اور منظوری کے بعد اسے ٹینڈر کیا جائے گا۔
