Nadra to register transgender persons across country

According to the news sources, in a bid to improve the registration of transgender persons and create awareness, Nadra has launched a countrywide campaign named “Trans-Rights are Human Rights”.

In this regard, the authority is giving training to field officers/officials on Dec 13 to sensitize them to the right of transgender persons which would ultimately help them register them.

According to the news sources, Nadra has far-off registered 5,626 transgender persons who opted for a gender other than male or female. The authority further aims at generating awareness about the significance of legal identity for empowering the transgender community.

In this milieu, Nadra has engaged the Ministry of Human Rights, Provincial/District Social Welfare Departments to mobilize the transgender persons for CNIC registration to help them eliminate long-standing discrimination, exclusion, and sporadic violence.

In the meeting with transgender person chairman Nadra, Tariq Malik said, this year on the occasion of International Human Rights Day we are asserting that trans-rights are also human rights.

Chairman Nadra said that Nadra has taken this daunting task of bringing transgender persons into the fold of inclusive society by issuing them the basic identity document i.e. CNIC. My message is clear to all genders, “Be yourself, we will adjust. To be perceived as what you say is your basic right.” said Tariq Malik.

اسلام آباد: نیشنل ڈیٹا بیس اینڈ رجسٹریشن اتھارٹی (نادرا) نے جمعہ کو ملک بھر میں خواجہ سراؤں کی رجسٹریشن کے لیے ایک مہم کا آغاز کیا۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق خواجہ سراؤں کی رجسٹریشن کو بہتر بنانے اور آگاہی پیدا کرنے کے لیے نادرا نے ملک گیر مہم کا آغاز کیا ہے جس کا نام "ٹرانس رائٹس ہیومن رائٹس" ہے۔
اس سلسلے میں، اتھارٹی 13 دسمبر کو فیلڈ افسران / اہلکاروں کو ٹرانس جینڈر افراد کے حق کے بارے میں آگاہ کرنے کے لیے ٹریننگ دے رہی ہے جو بالآخر ان کی رجسٹریشن میں مدد کرے گی۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق نادرا کے پاس اب تک 5,626 خواجہ سرا رجسٹرڈ ہیں جنہوں نے مرد یا عورت کے علاوہ کسی اور جنس کا انتخاب کیا۔ اتھارٹی کا مزید مقصد ٹرانسجینڈر کمیونٹی کو بااختیار بنانے کے لیے قانونی شناخت کی اہمیت کے بارے میں بیداری پیدا کرنا ہے۔
اس ماحول میں، نادرا نے انسانی حقوق کی وزارت، صوبائی/ضلعی سماجی بہبود کے محکموں کو سی این آئی سی رجسٹریشن کے لیے ٹرانس جینڈر افراد کو متحرک کرنے کے لیے مصروف کیا ہے تاکہ وہ دیرینہ امتیازی سلوک، اخراج اور چھٹپٹی تشدد کو ختم کرنے میں مدد کریں۔
خواجہ سراؤں کے چیئرمین نادرا سے ملاقات میں طارق ملک نے کہا کہ اس سال انسانی حقوق کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر ہم اس بات پر زور دے رہے ہیں کہ ٹرانس جینڈر بھی انسانی حقوق ہیں۔
چیئرمین نادرا نے کہا کہ نادرا نے خواجہ سراؤں کو بنیادی شناختی دستاویز یعنی (سی این آئ سی) جاری کر کے انہیں جامع معاشرے کے دائرے میں لانے کا یہ مشکل کام اٹھایا ہے۔
