Multinational firm to launch ‘Smart City’ pilot project in Lahore

According to the news sources, A spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority PSCA claimed that a four-member delegation of Nokia Qatar led by its Head of Sales for Crimea region Sayed Shady during his maiden meeting with PSCA senior officers here on Friday principally agreed to launch Pakistan’s first ‘smart city’ pilot project in Lahore.

According to the details, “A significant progress has been made in making Lahore the first smart city of the country.

While talking to the media spokesperson said that, In the first phase, the PSCA in collaboration with Nokia Qatar will launch a pilot project of smart city at MM Alam Road and Liberty Market,”

According to the news source, Under the project, automate smart street lights, waste management bins, and environment protection sensors will be installed at the selective locations.

The spokesperson said, adding that the Nokia team also told the meeting that a smart parking system will be installed at the liberty parking areas which will be in accordance with the world standards.

While directing the occasion, PSCA Chief Operating Officer/DIG Kamran Khan, said the project would be the first of its kind in Pakistan and it would pave the way for other smart city projects in the country, if proved fruitful.

خبر کے ذرائع کے مطابق، پنجاب سیف سٹیز اتھارٹی (پی ایس سی اے) کے ترجمان نے دعویٰ کیا کہ نوکیا قطر کے ایک چار رکنی وفد کی سربراہی اس کے ہیڈ آف سیلز فار کریمیا ریجن سید شیدی نے جمعہ کو یہاں (پی ایس سی اے) کے سینئر افسران سے اپنی پہلی ملاقات کے دوران اصولی طور پر اتفاق کیا۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق لاہور کو ملک کا پہلا سمارٹ سٹی بنانے کے حوالے سے اہم پیش رفت ہوئی ہے۔
میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے ترجمان نے کہا کہ پہلے مرحلے میں پی ایس سی اے نوکیا قطر کے ساتھ مل کر ایم ایم عالم روڈ اور لبرٹی مارکیٹ میں سمارٹ سٹی کا پائلٹ پروجیکٹ شروع کرے گا۔
خبر رساں ادارے کے مطابق اس منصوبے کے تحت منتخب مقامات پر خودکار سمارٹ اسٹریٹ لائٹس، ویسٹ مینجمنٹ بِنز اور ماحولیاتی تحفظ کے سینسر نصب کیے جائیں گے۔
ترجمان نے مزید کہا کہ نوکیا ٹیم نے میٹنگ کو یہ بھی بتایا کہ لبرٹی پارکنگ ایریاز پر ایک سمارٹ پارکنگ سسٹم نصب کیا جائے گا جو عالمی معیار کے مطابق ہوگا۔
اس موقع پر ہدایت دیتے ہوئے، (پی ایس سی اے) کے چیف آپریٹنگ آفیسر/ڈی آئی جی کامران خان نے کہا کہ یہ منصوبہ پاکستان میں اپنی نوعیت کا پہلا منصوبہ ہوگا اور اگر نتیجہ خیز ثابت ہوا تو یہ ملک میں دیگر سمارٹ سٹی منصوبوں کے لیے راہ ہموار کرے گا۔
