Moazzam Ali Ghurki called For Early Construction of Mainline-1

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which focuses on energy, transport, and industrial cooperation, connects Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with Pakistan's Gwadar Port on the Arabian Sea.

This project, according to Ghurki, involves converting a 1,163-mile colonial-era route from Karachi to Peshawar to high-speed rail service.

Fang Yulong, senior vice president of the PCJCCI, emphasized that Pakistan had agreed to raise the price of the ML-1 from US $6.8 billion to US $ 9.85 billion in response to Chinese negotiators' demand.

The $10 billion Mainline-I Project of Pakistan Railways has been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

This project was one of CPEC's "mega projects" since it was anticipated that it would eventually be integrated into the organization's larger outreach to Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
