Manora beach opens to public after renovation

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated renovated Manora beach upon the completion of the Rs650 million ‘Improvement of Water Front Development at Manora Beach’ project.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, he said the Manora beach was one of the most beautiful places his government had developed to provide a safe, secure, neat, and clean family recreational place to the people of Karachi.

“We are planning to develop a jetty at Sea View to start a ferry service from the Clifton area to the Manora beach,” the CM announced.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minorities Affairs Minister Gianchand Essarani, Works and Services Minister Zia Abbas Shah, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab, and others.

“The project is a part of overall development of Karachi,” the CM explained, adding that at present, the Manora beach was under-utilized and there was a very low number of visitors coming there due to lack of facilities like sitting spaces, dining areas, toilets, shades, and others amenities.

He said his objective was to ensure basic facilities to attract the public’s attention towards Manora.

“This eventually will increase visitors and improve the development of this area,” he remarked and added that the project would result in economic activities in the area.

According to Shah, Karachi’s beaches were the main tourist attraction and one of the distinguishing features of the city.

He said that due to the dearth of entertainment avenues, especially for the middle and lower-middle class, people had only Clifton, Sea View, Hawke’s Bay, and Sandspit beaches to go.

“Since these destination areas are just beaches and not developed, they got stale and there was a dire need for some new developments,” he said.

وزیر اعلیٰ سندھ سید مراد علی شاہ نے 650 مل��ن روپے کے ’’منوڑہ بیچ میں واٹر فرنٹ ڈویلپمنٹ‘‘ کے منصوبے کی تکمیل پر تزئین و آرائش شدہ منوڑہ ساحل کا افتتاح کیا۔

افتتاحی تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے، انہوں نے کہا کہ منوڑہ ساحل ان خوبصورت ترین مقامات میں سے ایک ہے جسے ان کی حکومت نے کراچی کے لوگوں کو ایک محفوظ، محفوظ، صاف ستھرا اور خاندانی تفریحی مقام فراہم کرنے کے لیے تیار کیا ہے۔

"ہم سی ویو پر ایک جیٹی تیار کرنے کا منصوبہ بنا رہے ہیں تاکہ کلفٹن کے علاقے سے منوڑہ بیچ تک فیری سروس شروع کی جا سکے،" وزیراعلیٰ نے اعلان کیا۔

افتتاحی تقریب میں سندھ کے وزیر بلدیات سید ناصر حسین شاہ، وزیر تعلیم سید سردار علی شاہ، وزیر لائیو اسٹاک اینڈ فشریز عبدالباری پتافی، وزیر اقلیتی امور گیان چند ایسرانی، وزیر ورکس اینڈ سروسز ضیاء عباس شاہ، کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر مرتضیٰ وہاب اور دیگر نے شرکت کی۔

"منصوبہ کراچی کی مجموعی ترقی کا ایک حصہ ہے،" وزیراعلیٰ نے وضاحت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس وقت منوڑہ بیچ کا استعمال کم ہے اور بیٹھنے کی جگہ، کھانے پینے جیسی سہولیات کی کمی کی وجہ سے وہاں آنے والوں کی تعداد بہت کم ہے۔ علاقے، بیت الخلا، شیڈز اور دیگر سہولیات۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ان کا مقصد منوڑہ کی طرف عوام کی توجہ مبذول کرانے کے لیے بنیادی سہولیات کو یقینی بنانا ہے۔

"اس سے آخر کار زائرین میں اضافہ ہوگا اور اس علاقے کی ترقی میں بہتری آئے گی،" انہوں نے ریمارکس دیئے اور مزید کہا کہ اس منصوبے کے نتیجے میں علاقے میں اقتصادی سرگرمیاں شروع ہوں گی۔

شاہ کے مطابق، کراچی کے ساحل سیاحوں کی توجہ کا مرکز اور شہر کی امتیازی خصوصیات میں سے ایک تھے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ تفریحی مقامات کی کمی کی وجہ سے، خاص طور پر متوسط اور نچلے طبقے کے لیے، لوگوں کے پاس صرف کلفٹن، سی ویو، ہاکس بے اور سینڈ اسپٹ کے ساحل تھے۔

انہوں نے کہا، "چونکہ یہ منزل والے علاقے صرف ساحل ہیں اور ترقی یافتہ نہیں ہیں، اس لیے وہ باسی ہو گئے ہیں اور کچھ نئی پیشرفت کی اشد ضرورت تھی۔"
