Maker Lab’ inaugurated at National Library of Pakistan

US Embassy Public Affairs Minister Counsellor Ray Castillo and Joint Secretary Muhammad Mureed Rahimoon of the National Heritage and Cultural Division inaugurated a ‘Maker Lab’ within the Lincoln Reading Lounge at the National Library of Pakistan.

According to the news sources, the space will serve as a tech lab that will offer young Pakistani inventors, entrepreneurs, and educators the up-to-date technology and resources to stand-in innovation. Established by the US Embassy in Islamabad in partnership with the National Library of Pakistan, the new Maker Lab is one of some tech labs in the 19 American Spaces in Pakistan.

American Spaces in Pakistan conduct Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programmes that focus on teaching 21st-century technology like 3D design and printing, robotics, coding, and virtual reality. By learning about technology and developing new skills, Pakistani innovators can come up with solutions to various real-world problems. These programmes also permit participants to learn about the most advanced US innovations in the field of technology and science.

in the inauguration ceremony of makers lab Minister Counsellor Castillo said: “The Maker Lab at the Lincoln Reading Lounge will be an extensive resource for young leaders seeking to hone their tech skills while deepening their relationship with the United States.”

Maker Lab staff will hold workshops on the use of 3D printers, 3D scanners, basic robotics, virtual reality headsets, coding, and circuits. All goings-on and programs of the Maker Lab are free of cost and open to the public.

یو ایس ایمبیسی کے پبلک افیئر منسٹر کونسلر رے کاسٹیلو اور نیشنل ہیریٹیج اینڈ کلچرل ڈویژن کے جوائنٹ سیکرٹری محمد مرید رحیمون نے نیشنل لائبریری آف پاکستان میں لنکن ریڈنگ لاؤنج کے اندر ’’میکر لیب‘‘ کا افتتاح کیا۔
خبر کے ذرائع کے مطابق، یہ جگہ ایک ٹیک لیب کے طور پر کام کرے گی جو نوجوان پاکستانی موجدوں، کاروباری افراد اور ماہرین تعلیم کو جدید ٹیکنالوجی اور وسائل فراہم کرے گی۔ اسلام آباد میں امریکی سفارت خانے کی جانب سے نیشنل لائبریری آف پاکستان کے اشتراک سے قائم کیا گیا، نئی میکر لیب پاکستان میں 19 امریکن اسپیسز میں کچھ ٹیک لیبز میں سے ایک ہے۔
پاکستان میں امریکن اسپیسز سائنس، ٹیکنالوجی، انجینئرنگ، آرٹس، اور ریاضی (ایس ٹی ای اے ایم) پروگرام چلاتے ہیں جو 21ویں صدی کی ٹیکنالوجی جیسے3-ڈی ڈیزائن اور پرنٹنگ، روبوٹکس، کوڈنگ اور ورچوئل رئیلٹی کی تعلیم پر توجہ مرکوز کرتے ہیں۔ ٹیکنالوجی کے بارے میں سیکھنے اور نئی مہارتوں کو تیار کرنے سے، پاکستانی اختراع کار حقیقی دنیا کے مختلف مسائل کا حل تلاش کر سکتے ہیں۔ یہ پروگرام شرکاء کو ٹیکنالوجی اور سائنس کے میدان میں امریکہ کی جدید ترین ایجادات کے بارے میں جاننے کی بھی اجازت دیتے ہیں۔
میکرز لیب کی افتتاحی تقریب میں منسٹر کونسلر کاسٹیلو نے کہا: "لنکن ریڈنگ لاؤنج میں میکر لیب ان نوجوان لیڈروں کے لیے ایک وسیع وسیلہ ثابت ہو گی جو امریکہ کے ساتھ اپنے تعلقات کو گہرا کرتے ہوئے اپنی تکنیکی مہارتوں کو نکھارنے کے خواہاں ہیں۔"
میکر لیب کا عملہ 3D پرنٹرز، 3D سکینرز، بنیادی روبوٹکس، ورچوئل رئیلٹی ہیڈسیٹ، کوڈنگ اور سرکٹس کے استعمال پر ورکشاپ منعقد کرے گا۔ میکر لیب کے تمام کام اور پروگرام مفت اور عوام کے لیے کھلے ہیں۔
