Lahore: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) in collaboration with the district administration of Lahore has taken an exceptional measure to fight COVID-19 pandemic. LWMC carried out a special washing operation with a disinfectant in which almost all the major and minor roads of the city followed by hospitals including Services Hospital, Mayo Hospital, and Ganga Ram Hospital were washed.
Not only these hospitals but Lady Willington Hospital, Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, Mian Munshi Hospital, Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Punjab Institute of Cardiology and others were also a part of this operation. The operation included almost all bus stops, footpaths of the city.
The LWMC took this step to prevent the spread of the pandemic coronavirus. LWMC Chairman stated that the department was using all its resources to keep the city clean in addition to special services being given to fight against coronavirus. He stated, “I myself and LWMC Managing Director kept on monitoring every operation in the city and observing zero-tolerance.”
The Company MD stated that the department was working in close coordination with the district administration of Lahore and providing extraordinary cleanliness services despite exceptional efforts to control the virus. He said the department had given all personal protective equipment to its employees that include masks, gloves, kits, etc.
