KP government to carry out legal classification of forested areas

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to carry out legal classification of forested areas in the newly merged districts with the aim to preserve the trees.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the Forest Department with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair, said an official handout. The matter will be presented to the provincial cabinet for final approval.

Provincial Ministers Ishtiaq Urmar, Anwar Zeb Khan, Iqbal Wazir, MPAs from merged districts, Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz, Senior Member Board of Revenue Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Secretary forests Islam Zeb, Secretary law Masood Ahmad and other relevant senior officials attended the meeting.

The decision was taken after a series of consultative sessions with the local community of all the merged districts and other relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was informed that during a consultation with local people and tribal elders, it was proposed to classify the forests of merged areas as Guzara Forests.

Provincial ministers and MPAs from merged districts who attended the meeting also agreed to the proposal and stressed the need for effective measures on the part of the provincial government for the preservation of forests by stopping illegal cuttings of trees.

The elected representatives put forward suggestions to protect the interest of the local population and take care of their domestic needs of firewood and timber.

پشاور: کے پی حکومت نے درختوں کو محفوظ رکھنے کے لیے جنگلاتی علاقوں کی قانونی درجہ بندی کرنے کا حتمی فیصلہ کرلیا ہے۔

خیبر پختونخوا حکومت نے نئے انضمام شدہ اضلاع میں جنگلات والے علاقوں کی قانونی درجہ بندی کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے جس کا مقصد درختوں کو محفوظ رکھنا ہے۔

یہ فیصلہ محکمہ جنگلات کی ایک میٹنگ میں کیا گیا جس کی صدارت وزیر اعلیٰ محمود خان کر رہے تھے۔ معاملہ حتمی منظوری کے لیے صوبائی کابینہ کے سامنے پیش کیا جائے گا۔

صوبائی وزراء اشتیاق ارمار ، انور زیب خان ، اقبال وزیر ، ضم شدہ اضلاع کے ایم پی اے ، چیف سیکرٹری کاظم نیاز ، سینئر ممبر بورڈ آف ریونیو سید ظفر علی شاہ ، سیکرٹری جنگلات اسلام زیب ، سیکرٹری قانون مسعود احمد اور دیگر متعلقہ سینئر حکام نے اجلاس میں شرکت کی۔

یہ فیصلہ تمام ضم شدہ اضلاع کی مقامی کمیونٹی اور دیگر متعلقہ سٹیک ہولڈرز کے ساتھ مشاورتی اجلاسوں کے سلسلے کے بعد لیا گیا۔

اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ مقامی لوگوں اور قبائلی عمائدین کے ساتھ مشاورت کے دوران انضمام شدہ علاقوں کے جنگلات کو گوزارہ جنگلات کے طور پر درجہ بندی کرنے کی تجویز دی گئی۔

صوبائی وزراء اور انضمام شدہ اضلاع سے تعلق رکھنے والے ایم پی اے جنہوں نے اجلاس میں شرکت کی ، نے بھی اس تجویز سے اتفاق کیا اور درختوں کی غیر قانونی کٹائی روک کر جنگلات کے تحفظ کے لیے صوبائی حکومت کی جانب سے موثر اقدامات کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔

منتخب نمائندوں نے مقامی آبادی کے مفادات کے تحفظ اور لکڑی اور لکڑی کی گھریلو ضروریات کا خیال رکھنے کے لیے تجاویز پیش کیں۔
