KMC to increase recreational facilities for citizens

Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Laeeq Ahmed on Wednesday said citizens were suffering from frustration and depression due to the situation of Covid-19 in the city, and it was important to provide them with as many recreational facilities as possible.

Ahmed inspected various parts of the park and ordered the immediate construction of the outer wall which had fallen from several places. He said that the Park was one of the ancient parks in Karachi and a recreational facility for a large population of the surrounding areas.

"In the evenings, a large number of citizens come to this park to spend their leisure time, so this place should be made as good as possible," he added.

The administrator said that trees planted in the parks were helpful in improving the environment, and directed to plant more trees, including the ancient trees of Karachi, namely, papaya, jasmine, jungle jalebi, coconut and palm.

Ahmed said that a continuous tree plantation campaign was being carried out in the city by the KMC and now this campaign was also being run in collaboration with the civil society.

ایڈمنسٹریٹر نے اپنے اچانک دورے کے دوران کہا کہ "مہلک وبا نے لوگوں کی زندگیوں کو یکسر بدل دیا ہے جہیل پارک کی طرف".

احمد نے پارک کے مختلف حصوں کا معائنہ کیا اور بیرونی دیوار کو فوری طور پر تعمیر کرنے کا حکم دیا جو کئی جگہوں سے گر گئی تھی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ پارک کراچی کے قدیم پارکوں میں سے ایک ہے اور آس پاس کے علاقوں کی ایک بڑی آبادی کے لیے تفریحی سہولت ہے۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا ، "شام کے وقت شہریوں کی ایک بڑی تعداد اپنا تفریحی وقت گزارنے کے لیے اس پارک میں آتی ہے ، اس لیے اس جگہ کو ہر ممکن حد تک بہتر بنایا جانا چاہیے۔"

ایڈمنسٹریٹر نے کہا کہ پارکوں میں لگائے گئے درخت ماحول کو بہتر بنانے میں مددگار ہیں ، اور کراچی کے قدیم درختوں یعنی پپیتا ، جیسمین ، جنگل جلیبی ، ناریل اور کھجور سمیت مزید ٹریس لگانے کی ہدایت کی۔

احمد نے کہا کہ کے ایم سی کی جانب سے شہر میں مسلسل درخت لگانے کی مہم چلائی جا رہی ہے اور اب یہ مہم بھی سول سوسائٹی کے تعاون سے چلائی جا رہی ہے۔
