KMC Initiates Rs1.1b development works in Karachi

"Roads and street lights in different parts of the city will be improved at a cost of Rs1.5 billion in the same financial year.

At least 240 new buses for Karachi and 10 new buses for Larkana will reach Karachi between January 31 and February 7," the administrator expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Burns Garden.

Metropolitan Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi, Director General Parks Junaidullah Khan, and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Barrister Wahab said that the Solid Waste Management Board will take over the garbage collection and cleaning work in Korangi District this month and in Central District from next month.

He said that the PTI government cannot solve basic problems, adding that inflation rises to 1.9% in one week.

The administrator said that he was present at the historic Burns Garden which was located at a very important place, adding that the doors of this park were closed for the citizens.

"But now its doors are being opened to the public. After that, the renovation of Frere Hall started with the help of US Consul General and now Burns Garden is being renovated," he added.

He said that in addition to planting trees in public places, planting of the urban forests has also started. He said that there were thousands of tons of debris in Burns Garden which had been removed.

The Administrator said that trees and grass are being planted so that thousands of citizens who come to People's Square for recreation can have access to this green space.

He said that Aziz Bhatti Park in East District would also be renovated. "All major arteries will also be beautified to improve the environment of Karachi," he said.

کراچی: کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر مرتضیٰ وہاب نے کہا کہ کے ایم سی نے کراچی میں 1.1 بلین روپے کی لاگت سے ترقیاتی کام شروع کردیئے۔

اسی مالی سال میں 1.5 ارب روپے کی لاگت سے شہر کے مختلف علاقوں میں سڑکوں اور اسٹریٹ لائٹس کو بہتر کیا جائے گا۔

کراچی کے لیے کم از کم 240 نئی بسیں اور لاڑکانہ کے لیے 10 نئی بسیں 31 جنوری سے 7 فروری کے درمیان کراچی پہنچیں گی۔‘‘ ان خیالات کا اظہار ایڈمنسٹریٹر نے برنس گارڈن میں پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کیا۔

اس موقع پر میٹروپولیٹن کمشنر سید افضل زیدی، ڈائریکٹر جنرل پارکس جنید اللہ خان اور دیگر حکام بھی موجود تھے۔

بیرسٹر وہاب نے کہا کہ سالڈ ویسٹ مینجمنٹ بورڈ رواں ماہ ضلع کورنگی اور اگلے ماہ سے ضلع وسطی میں کچرا اٹھانے اور صفائی ستھرائی کا کام سنبھال لے گا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پی ٹی آئی حکومت بنیادی مسائل حل نہیں کر سکتی، ایک ہفتے میں مہنگائی 1.9 فیصد ہو گئی۔

ایڈمنسٹریٹر نے کہا کہ وہ تاریخی برنس گارڈن میں موجود تھے جو کہ انتہائی اہم مقام پر واقع ہے، انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اس پارک کے دروازے شہریوں کے لیے بند ہیں۔

"لیکن اب اس کے دروازے عوام کے لیے کھولے جا رہے ہیں۔ اس کے بعد فریئر ہال کی تزئین و آرائش کا کام امریکی قونصل جنرل کی مدد سے شروع ہوا اور اب برنس گارڈن کی تزئین و آرائش کی جا رہی ہے۔"

انہوں نے کہا کہ عوامی مقامات پر درخت لگانے کے ساتھ ساتھ شہری جنگلات کی شجرکاری بھی شروع کر دی گئی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ برنس گارڈن میں ہزاروں ٹن ملبہ پڑا تھا جسے ہٹا دیا گیا ہے۔

ایڈمنسٹریٹر نے کہا کہ درخت اور گھاس لگائے جا رہے ہیں تاکہ پیپلز سکوائر میں تفریح کے لیے آنے والے ہزاروں شہری اس سر سبز جگہ تک رسائی حاصل کر سکیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ضلع مشرقی میں عزیز بھٹی پارک کی بھی تزئین و آرائش کی جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کراچی کے ماحول کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے تمام بڑی شریانوں کو بھی خوبصورت بنایا جائے گا۔
