KMC decides to make city more disabled-friendly

According to the news source, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Thursday approved the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) resolution to ensure wheelchair and passage ramp facilities for persons with disabilities in all public and private offices, business and commercial centers, and parks, and recreational areas within 180 days.

According to the details, in case of avoidance or delay, action will be taken against the persons concerned under Section 15(132) of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 and Schedule VI. In a memorandum submitted to the administrator for approval, the KMC had said the government had allocated a quota for persons with disabilities in government jobs.

According to the KMC resolution, there were no facilities for disabled persons in public and private buildings, parks and recreational areas, and commercial places.

According to the news sources, it also stressed the need to provide an adequate number of wheelchairs and ramps for the disabled in all public and private buildings and offices, public and commercial places, and parks and amusement parks to provide them easy access to their destinations. Exercising the powers assigned via the government’s notification, Karachi Administrator barrister Murtaza Wahab approved the resolution.

نیوز سورس کے مطابق کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر بیرسٹر مرتضیٰ وہاب نے جمعرات کو کراچی میٹروپولیٹن کارپوریشن (کے ایم سی) کی قرارداد کی منظوری دے دی جس میں تمام سرکاری اور نجی دفاتر، کاروباری اور تجارتی مراکز اور پارکوں اور تفریحی مقامات میں معذور افراد کے لیے وہیل چیئر اور ریمپ کی سہولت کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق ٹال مٹول یا تاخیر کی صورت میں متعلقہ افراد کے خلاف سندھ لوکل گورنمنٹ ایکٹ 2013 کی دفعہ 15(132) اور شیڈول 6 کے تحت کارروائی کی جائے گی۔ منظوری کے لیے ایڈمنسٹریٹر کو جمع کرائے گئے میمورنڈم میں کے ایم سی نے کہا تھا کہ حکومت نے سرکاری ملازمتوں میں معذور افراد کے لیے کوٹہ مختص کیا ہے۔
کے ایم سی کی قرارداد کے مطابق سرکاری و نجی عمارتوں، پارکوں اور تفریحی مقامات اور تجارتی مقامات پر معذور افراد کے لیے کوئی سہولت موجود نہیں تھی۔
خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق، اس نے تمام سرکاری اور نجی عمارتوں اور دفاتر، عوامی اور تجارتی مقامات اور پارکوں اور تفریحی پارکوں میں معذور افراد کے لیے مناسب تعداد میں وہیل چیئرز اور ریمپ فراہم کرنے کی ضرورت پر بھی زور دیا تاکہ انہیں ان کی منزل تک آسان رسائی فراہم کی جا سکے۔ . حکومتی نوٹیفکیشن کے ذریعے تفویض کردہ اختیارات کو بروئے کار لاتے ہوئے کراچی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر بیرسٹر مرتضیٰ وہاب نے قرارداد کی منظوری دی۔
