Illegal Constructions Put Adverse Impacts on Environment: Environmentalists

The unbridled construction activities to meet the needs of the growing populations in the city lead to having adverse consequences on governance systems, environment, people’s health, transportation services, and overall citizens’ well-being.

Environmentalists sound warning that un-approved commercial or residential constructions cause big damages to the ecosystem as builders least care to safeguard the environment and natural resources.

It soars the humidity level combined with the hot temperature that affects human health to a great deal which calls for rectification of policies, improved planning, stricter laws’ implementation, and technological improvement for governance.

The enforcement team of Multan Development Authority (MDA) has succeeded to demolish various illegal constructions during a series of operations launched against encroachment in different parts of the city including Sher Shah road, Tehsildar Mor to Mill Phattak bypass road near Head Naubahar. It has erased dozens of illegal installations in the past few days.

The enforcement cell escorted by a heavy contingent of police faced heavy resistance during operation at Bosan Road, Chungi no 9, Rasheedabad, Chowk Kumharaanwala, MA Jinnah, fruit and vegetable market, Qasimpur Colony roads while clearing paths and pavements surrounded by the encroachers.

Taking action on the complaints received through Pakistan Citizen Portal, the Director-General MDA Agha Muhammad Ali Abbas directed officers to launch operation at Double Phattak Chowk, New Shah Shams Colony, Kumharanwala Chowk flyover, and green belts.

Expressing resolve to treat encroachers with iron hands, the DG said it is not only creating a hurdle in uninterrupted traffic flow but also damaging the beauty of the city at large. Despite regular operations initiated against the encroachment mafia, it has not been yet removed completely.

Sometimes it appears to have been pivoted as a constant phenomenon that never going to be dismantled from society for good.

یہ گرم درجہ حرارت کے ساتھ مل کر نمی کی سطح کو بڑھاتا ہے جو انسانی صحت کو بہت زیادہ متاثر کرتا ہے جس میں پالیسیوں کی اصلاح، بہتر منصوبہ بندی، سخت قوانین کے نفاذ اور گورننس کے لیے تکنیکی بہتری کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔

ملتان ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (ایم ڈی اے) کی انفورسمنٹ ٹیم نے شہر کے مختلف علاقوں بشمول ہیڈ نوبہار کے قریب تحصیلدار موڑ تا مل پھٹک بائی پاس روڈ سمیت شہر کے مختلف علاقوں میں تجاوزات کے خلاف شروع کی گئی کارروائیوں کے دوران متعدد غیر قانونی تعمیرات مسمار کرنے میں کامیابی حاصل کر لی ہے۔ اس نے گزشتہ چند دنوں میں درجنوں غیر قانونی تنصیبات کو مٹا دیا ہے۔

پولیس کی بھاری نفری کے ہمراہ انفورسمنٹ سیل کو بوسن روڈ، چونگی نمبر 9، رشید آباد، چوک کمہارانوالہ، ایم اے جناح، فروٹ اینڈ سبزی منڈی، قاسم پور کالونی کی سڑکوں پر آپریشن کے دوران شدید مزاحمت کا سامنا کرنا پڑا جبکہ تجاوزات سے گھرے ہوئے راستوں اور فٹ پاتھوں کو صاف کیا۔

پاکستان سٹیزن پورٹل کے ذریعے موصول ہونے والی شکایات پر ایکشن لیتے ہوئے ڈائریکٹر جنرل ایم ڈی اے آغا محمد علی عباس نے افسران کو ڈبل پھاٹک چوک، نیو شاہ شمس کالونی، کمہارانوالہ چوک فلائی اوور اور گرین بیلٹس پر آپریشن شروع کرنے کی ہدایت کی۔

ڈی جی نے تجاوزات کے خلاف آہنی ہاتھوں سے سلوک کرنے کے عزم کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ نہ صرف ٹریفک کی بلا تعطل روانی میں رکاوٹ پیدا کر رہا ہے بلکہ شہر کی خوبصورتی کو بھی بڑے پیمانے پر نقصان پہنچا رہا ہے۔ تجاوزات مافیا کے خلاف باقاعدہ آپریشن شروع ہونے کے باوجود تاحال اسے مکمل طور پر ختم نہیں کیا جا سکا۔

کبھی کبھی ایسا لگتا ہے کہ اسے مستقل رجحان کے طور پر محور کیا گیا ہے جو کبھی بھی اچھے کے لئے معاشرے سے ختم نہیں ہوگا۔
