Islamabad: According to the news sources, the Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul has said that the state would take strict action against housing societies violating environmental laws and green belts in Islamabad, and they would be “punished.”
Most of the housing societies, although approved in the capital city are using green belts as commercial plots. The minister said that the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was actively holding public hearings of all development projects and housing societies in this matter.
The ministry will also strengthen and empower EPA with more powers to take strict action against the violators. “EPA is doing a commendable job within its limited workforce and resources whereas the ministry is also taking it seriously to scale up the EPA’s structure for better environment conservation and monitoring”, said Zartaj Gul.
