Hemp harvest’ Inaugurated in Rawalpindi

While speaking on the inauguration event, Faraz said negative propaganda is being staged against the cultivation of cannabis but the government would not pay heed to it.

According to the news sources, the crop was cultivated on an area of one acre and was completed in three months.

The science minister further said the government wants to sponsor projects aimed at science and technology, adding that no industry can go ahead without a policy and law.

The inauguration took place in the Rawat area of Rawalpindi. Faraz had also inaugurated cultivation of the hemp crop in August. It was cultivated in a one-acre area.

The most expensive part of cannabis is its seed. The seeds for the current crop were obtained from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dispelling the impression that hemp is misused, Faraz said hemp is also used in medicine, while the fiber of the hemp has a vast use in industries. “Hemp can also greatly influence import and export. The products that are made of hemp are more profitable than the hemp itself,” he said. “Hemp-made products can give profit up to ten times the original drug.”

According to the news sources, Federal minister Shibli Faraz further said the prime minister had run a campaign to grow olive in the country and now we are seeing that its production has also started. Earlier we used to see olive oil being imported, he said, adding that the current government wants to sponsor such projects.

افتتاحی تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے فراز نے کہا کہ بھنگ کی کاشت کے خلاف منفی پروپیگنڈا کیا جا رہا ہے لیکن حکومت اس پر توجہ نہیں دے گی۔
اس وقت کے خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق اس فصل کی کاشت ایک ایکڑ رقبے پر کی گئی تھی اور تین ماہ میں مکمل ہو گئی تھی۔
وزیر سائنس نے مزید کہا کہ حکومت سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی کے منصوبوں کو سپانسر کرنا چاہتی ہے، انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ کوئی بھی صنعت پالیسی اور قانون کے بغیر آگے نہیں بڑھ سکتی۔
افتتاح راولپنڈی کے علاقے روات میں ہوا۔ فراز نے اگست میں بھنگ کی فصل کی کاشت کا افتتاح بھی کیا تھا۔ یہ ایک ایکڑ رقبہ میں کاشت کیا گیا تھا۔
بھنگ کا سب سے مہنگا حصہ اس کا بیج ہے۔ موجودہ فصل کے لیے بیج خیبرپختونخوا، بلوچستان اور گلگت بلتستان سے حاصل کیے گئے تھے۔
اس تاثر کو رد کرتے ہوئے کہ بھنگ کا غلط استعمال ہوتا ہے، فراز نے کہا کہ بھنگ کا استعمال ادویات میں بھی ہوتا ہے، جبکہ بھنگ کے فائبر کا صنعتوں میں بہت زیادہ استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ "بھنگ درآمد اور برآمد کو بھی بہت زیادہ متاثر کر سکتا ہے۔ بھنگ سے بنی مصنوعات خود بھنگ سے زیادہ منافع بخش ہوتی ہیں،‘‘ انہوں نے کہا۔ "بھنگ سے بنی مصنوعات اصل دوا سے دس گنا تک منافع دے سکتی ہیں۔"
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق وفاقی وزیر شبلی فراز کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ وزیراعظم نے ملک میں زیتون اگانے کی مہم چلائی تھی اور اب ہم دیکھ رہے ہیں کہ اس کی پیداوار بھی شروع ہوگئی ہے۔ پہلے ہم زیتون کا تیل درآمد ہوتے دیکھتے تھے، انہوں نے کہا کہ موجودہ حکومت ایسے منصوبوں کو سپانسر کرنا چاہتی ہے۔
