Gwadar Port Authority starts developing first Free Zone of Pakistan

Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) has started developing the first Free Zone of Pakistan which spreads over 9.5 sq. km area to operationalize a facility that has become a gateway for the country as well as for the region.

This facility is being developed in collaboration with China Overseas Ports Holding Company Limited (COPHCL).

According to the Economic Survey 2020-21, announced in a press conference by the Minister for Finance and Revenue, the construction of Free Zone Phase-I has been completed with all infrastructures, including power, water, road, telecommunication, waste treatment, and drainage systems in operation now.

More than 30 enterprises, in the areas of financial services, hotels, fishery products processing, warehouses, edible oil processing, furniture manufacturing, pipe industry, electric vehicles assembly, trade, and logistics, have already been registered in the Free Zone.

Gwadar Port is the first Deep Sea Port of the country, complementing, and supplementing the other two vibrant ports i.e Karachi Port and Port Qasim. Its development is critical to stimulate the economic growth of Balochistan in particular, and Pakistan in general as it will provide an outlet for land-locked Central Asian Republics (CARs), Western China, and Afghanistan.

لاہور: گوادر پورٹ اتھارٹی نے 9.5 مربع کیلومیٹر رقبے پر پھیلے ہوئے پاکستان کا پہلا فری زون تیار کرنا شروع کردیا۔

گوادر پورٹ اتھارٹی (جی پی اے) نے پاکستان کا پہلا فری زون تیار کرنا شروع کیا ہے جو ایک سہولت کو چلانے کے لئے 9.5 مربع کلومیٹر کے رقبے پر پھیلا ہوا ہے جو ملک کے ساتھ ساتھ خطے کے لئے بھی ایک گیٹ وے بن گیا ہے۔

اس سہولت کو چین اوورسیز پورٹس ہولڈنگ کمپنی لمیٹڈ (سی او پی ایچ سی ایل) کے اشتراک سے تیار کیا جارہا ہے۔

اقتصادی سروے 2020-21 کے مطابق ، وزیر خزانہ اور محصولات نے ایک پریس کانفرنس میں اعلان کیا ، فری زون فیز 1 کی تعمیر بجلی ، پانی ، سڑک ، ٹیلی مواصلات ، فضلہ علاج اور نکاسی آب سمیت تمام بنیادی ڈھانچے کے ساتھ مکمل کرلی گئی ہے۔ نظام اب کام میں ہے۔

فری زون میں مالی خدمات ، ہوٹلوں ، فشری پروڈکٹ پروسیسنگ ، گوداموں ، خوردنی تیل پروسیسنگ ، فرنیچر مینوفیکچرنگ ، پائپ انڈسٹری ، برقی گاڑیاں اسمبلی ، تجارت اور رسد کے شعبوں میں 30 سے زائد کاروباری افراد پہلے ہی رجسٹرڈ ہوچکے ہیں۔

گوادر بندرگاہ ملک کا پہلا ڈیپ سی پوٹ ہے ، جو دو دیگر متحرک پوٹ یعنی کراچی پورٹ اور پورٹ قاسم کی تکمیل کرتا ہے۔ اس کی ترقی بالخصوص اور بالعموم پاکستان کی معاشی نمو کو تیز کرنے کے لئے اہم ہے کیونکہ وہ وسطی سے بند وسطی ایشیائی جمہوریہ (CARs) ، مغربی چین اور افغانستان کو ایک راستہ فراہم کرے گا۔
