Groundbreaking of 35,000 new housing units in Lahore soon: Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid

While speaking to the business community at Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), the minister said that today the construction sector is lucrative and the best time for investment is now. He said that the government of Punjab has made major changes to the rules and regulations of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to ease out the businesses.

“Approval from various authorities for a housing scheme was the biggest problem that has now been resolved and all the NOCs could now be obtained under one roof at the LDA, which is bound to give approval for a housing plan within 60 days”, said Rashid.

He said that financing for the construction of houses was also a major challenge and banks were not ready to finance these projects. Now State Bank of Pakistan has bounded the banks to allocate five percent of their borrowing for the housing sector.

رشید نے کہا ، "ہاؤسنگ اسکیم کے لئے مختلف حکام کی منظوری سب سے بڑا مسئلہ تھا جو اب حل ہوگیا ہے اور ایل ڈی اے میں اب تمام این او سی ایک ہی چھت کے نیچے حاصل کیے جاسکتے ہیں ، جو 60 دن کے اندر رہائشی منصوبے کے لئے منظوری دینے کا پابند ہے۔" .

انہوں نے کہا کہ مکانات کی تعمیر کے لئے مالی اعانت بھی ایک بہت بڑا چیلنج ہے اور بینک ان منصوبوں کے لئے مالی اعانت تیار نہیں ہیں۔ اب اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان نے بینکوں کو پابند کیا ہے کہ وہ ہاؤسنگ سیکٹر کے لئے اپنے قرضوں کا پانچ فیصد مختص کرے۔
