Govt. to announce major economic package for GB soon

In a recently conducted meeting with the newly-elected leadership of Gilgit-Baltistan, the ministry of planning and development formed two technical groups for finalizing the joined development plan over the pattern of the Karachi Transformation Plan which was recently announced.

The officials present over the meeting were Federal Minister for planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, and the GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid.

As decided in the meeting, one technical group will consist of the relevant chiefs of the ministry of planning and development as well as officers of GB.

The other committee would monitor the preparations and the progress work over the development plan, and it will comprise of GB chief minister and an inter-ministerial committee under the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission.

In the next 15 days, a follow-up meeting will be conducted in which the shortlisting of the areas will take place on which the GB integrated development plan will be applied.

Asad Umar said that the developments in Gilgit-Baltistan faced negligence for a long period but now the current federal government and GB administration will together formulate and then announce the integrated development plan for the welfare of the region`s people.

گلگت بلتستان کی نومنتخب قیادت کے ساتھ حال ہی میں منعقدہ میٹنگ میں ، وزارت منصوبہ بندی و ترقی نے کراچی تبدیلی منصوبے کی طرز پر مشترکہ ترقیاتی منصوبے کو حتمی شکل دینے کے لئے دو تکنیکی گروپ تشکیل دیئے جن کا حال ہی میں اعلان کیا گیا تھا۔

اجلاس میں موجود عہدیداروں میں وفاقی وزیر برائے منصوبہ بندی ، ترقیات ، اور خصوصی اقدامات اسد عمر ، اور وزیر اعلیٰ پنجاب خالد خورشید شامل تھے۔

جیسا کہ اجلاس میں فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے ، ایک تکنیکی گروپ وزارت منصوبہ بندی و ترقی کے متعلقہ سربراہان کے ساتھ ساتھ جی بی کے افسران پر مشتمل ہوگا۔

دوسری کمیٹی ترقیاتی منصوبے پر تیاریوں اور پیشرفت کے کام پر نظر رکھے گی ، اور اس میں پلاننگ کمیشن کے نائب چیئرمین کے تحت جی بی کے وزیر اعلی اور ایک بین وزارتی کمیٹی ہوگی۔

اگلے 15 دنوں میں ، ایک فالو اپ میٹنگ منعقد کی جائے گی جس میں علاقوں کی شارٹ لسٹنگ ہوگی جس پر جی بی انٹیگریٹڈ ڈویلپمنٹ پلان کو لاگو کیا جائے گا۔

اسد عمر نے کہا کہ گلگت بلتستان میں ہونے والی پیشرفت کو ایک طویل عرصے تک غفلت کا سامنا کرنا پڑا لیکن اب موجودہ وفاقی حکومت اور جی بی انتظامیہ مل کر خطے کے عوام کی فلاح و بہبود کے لئے مربوط ترقیاتی منصوبے کا اعلان کرے گی۔
