Islamabad: The government of Pakistan is currently considering to remove Shabbar Zaidi as the Chairman of FBR (Federal Board of Revenue).
As per the media sources, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan is considering to appoint Shabbar Zaidi as his Special Assistant of tax and revenue matters, as well as it is also expected that he can be given the task of bringing tax reforms. Meanwhile, Younus Dagha and Jahanzeb Khan are being considered to be appointed as new Chairman of FBR.
On this matter, Shabbar Zaidi is refusing to pass any comments and insists that Prime Minister Imran Khan has the authority to decide himself in this regard. Since when Shabbar Zaidi was appointed as the Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue in May, he is facing severe opposition on this appointment.
Before his appointment as Chairman of FBR, Shabbar Zaidi appointment was challenged in IHC (Islamabad High Court). This petition was filed against the appointment of Shabbar Zaidi as Chairman in FBR by a grade-18 officer of Federal Board of Revenue, Ali Muhammad.
As per the petitioner, he has made this plea in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the discriminatory treatment and not equal rights given to all the FBR regular officers. Therefore as per him, in this regard, Shabbar Zaidi must be restrained from working as the Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue and another appointment of Chairman must be considered solely on merit as per competency.
Ali Muhammad, the petitioner also requested the court to not only remove Shabbar Zaidi as the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) but also his appointment must be charged as illegal. The petitioner is laying stress on not only dismissing the services of Shabbar Zaidi as the Chairman but also marking this appointment as illegal and violation of rights of others.
