The federal government has empowered the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) for plan building housing schemes for Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP).
With this decision, the housing foundation will be sanctioned to procure land for any housing scheme and will also be responsible to collect the maintenance revenue from the residents of these housing societies.
Further on, the Cabinet Committee for Lawmaking will present a bill to parliament for transforming the housing foundation into an authority.
According to sources, the resolution by the Federal government has been announced in the view of the Naya Pakistan Housing Project and to ensure effective implementation of the current and future projects.
The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) is a subordinate institution of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Works that is accountable for facilitating accommodation amenities to all retired and in-service government employees accompanied by civilians who qualify as eligible on basis of a special quota. To date, nearly 0.2 million government employees and special quota people have been reported to be registered with the foundation.
