Funds Being Spent on Minorities’ Welfare: CM Buzdar

Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Wednesday that a sum of Rs2.5 billion was being spent on the welfare of minorities, adding that a two percent quota for minority communities’ students would open the doors of higher education in the best institutions to excel in life.

During a meeting with Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ijaz Alam Augustine and Youdhister Chohan, MPA, in his office, the chief minister congratulated Youdhister Chohan on becoming a member of the provincial assembly.

He said that minorities had always played an active role in national development. The religious minorities enjoy equal rights and instructions had been issued to implement a five percent job quota for minority communities in toto, he added.

No practical step was taken for the minority's welfare in the past, he deplored. The chief minister said that minorities’ cells had been set up in 40 provincial government departments along with the nomination of focal persons.

Similarly, focal persons have also been nominated in nine divisions, 36 districts, and 144 tehsils after setting up minorities’ cells to help resolve their issues, he mentioned.

He said that special funds had been provided for the repair and maintenance of Gurdawaras, temples, and churches. It was sanguine that practical steps had been taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan to protect the minorities’ rights in Pakistan, he remarked.

The chief minister strongly condemned the ill-treatment of minorities in India which was the so-called claimant of being the largest democracy in the world.

The Modi government had turned India into a Hindu state where minorities were languishing, he added.

وزیراعلیٰ عثمان بزدار نے بدھ کو کہا کہ اقلیتوں کی فلاح و بہبود پر ڈھائی ارب روپے خرچ کیے جا رہے ہیں، انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اقلیتی برادری کے طلباء کے لیے دو فیصد کوٹہ بہترین اداروں میں اعلیٰ تعلیم کے دروازے کھول دے گا۔

صوبائی وزیر برائے انسانی حقوق و اقلیتی امور اعجاز عالم آگسٹین اور ایم پی اے یودھیسٹر چوہان سے ان کے دفتر میں ملاقات کے دوران وزیراعلیٰ نے یودھیسٹر چوہان کو رکن صوبائی اسمبلی بننے پر مبارکباد دی۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ اقلیتوں نے ہمیشہ قومی ترقی میں فعال کردار ادا کیا ہے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ مذہبی اقلیتوں کو مساوی حقوق حاصل ہیں اور اقلیتی برادریوں کے لیے ملازمت کے پانچ فیصد کوٹہ کو مکمل طور پر نافذ کرنے کی ہدایات جاری کی گئی ہیں۔

انہوں نے افسوس کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ماضی میں اقلیتوں کی بہبود کے لیے کوئی عملی قدم نہیں اٹھایا گیا۔ وزیراعلیٰ نے کہا کہ صوبائی حکومت کے 40 محکموں میں اقلیتی سیل قائم کیے گئے ہیں اور فوکل پرسنز کی نامزدگی بھی کی گئی ہے۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ اسی طرح نو ڈویژنوں، 36 اضلاع اور 144 تحصیلوں میں فوکل پرسنز کو بھی نامزد کیا گیا ہے تاکہ ان کے مسائل کو حل کرنے میں مدد کے لیے اقلیتی سیل قائم کیا جا سکے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ گوردواروں، مندروں اور گرجا گھروں کی مرمت اور دیکھ بھال کے لیے خصوصی فنڈز فراہم کیے گئے ہیں۔ انہوں نے ریمارکس دیے کہ وزیراعظم عمران خان کی جانب سے پاکستان میں اقلیتوں کے حقوق کے تحفظ کے لیے عملی اقدامات اٹھانا افسوسناک ہے۔

وزیر اعلیٰ نے بھارت میں اقلیتوں کے ساتھ ناروا سلوک کی شدید مذمت کی جو دنیا کی سب سے بڑی جمہوریت ہونے کا نام نہاد دعویدار ہے۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ مودی حکومت نے ہندوستان کو ایک ہندو ریاست میں تبدیل کر دیا ہے جہاں اقلیتیں تڑپ رہی ہیں۔
