Freight train service launched to link port with rest of Pakistan

According to the news sources, the freight train service also coincides with the commissioning of a 3.7km, high-tech train track laid at the Hutchison Ports Pakistan connecting the facility to the rest of the country in a seamless manner through the Pakistan Railway’s extensive network spread throughout the country.

According to the details, this new track laid within the terminal comprised three rail sidings of 700 meters each alongside a crippled wagon sliding. The tracks are fixed in concrete and are ballastless, which is a better, albeit more expensive option than the traditional sleeper/ballast design used in Pakistan. Switching between the tracks and signaling is carried out using a computer-based interlocking system, eliminating the need for manual switching. As many as three freight trains can be handled at the same time using rubber-tired gantry cranes with a quick turnaround.

While talking to the media, Federal Minister for Railways Mohammed Azam Khan Swati said it was a matter of immense pleasure for him to help upheaval business opportunities for Pakistan. “This will triple the container transport for Pakistan. In six months, it will also make railways a profitable institution of Pakistan,” he said, explaining that Pakistan Railways would make several terminals for this freight service with the collaboration of the Karachi Port Trust. “With shared value and shared benefits, we will all go towards a profitable business,” he added.

خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق، مال بردار ٹرین سروس ہچیسن پورٹس پاکستان پر بچھائی گئی 3.7 کلومیٹر طویل ہائی ٹیک ٹرین ٹریک کی تکمیل کے ساتھ بھی مطابقت رکھتی ہے جو پاکستان ریلوے کے وسیع نیٹ ورک کے ��ریعے اس سہولت کو ملک کے دیگر حصوں سے بغیر کسی رکاوٹ کے جوڑے گی۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق، ٹرمینل کے اندر بچھائے گئے اس نئے ٹریک میں 700 میٹر کی تین ریل سائڈنگز کے ساتھ ساتھ ایک ویگن سلائیڈنگ پر مشتمل ہے۔ پٹریوں کو کنکریٹ میں ایمبیڈ کیا گیا ہے اور یہ بیلسٹ لیس ہیں، جو کہ پاکستان میں استعمال ہونے والے روایتی سلیپر/بیلاسٹ ڈیزائن کے مقابلے میں ایک بہتر، مہنگا آپشن ہے۔ دستی سوئچنگ کی ضرورت کو ختم کرتے ہوئے، پٹریوں اور سگنلنگ کے درمیان سوئچنگ کمپیوٹر پر مبنی انٹر لاکنگ سسٹم کا استعمال کرتے ہوئے کی جاتی ہے۔ ربڑ سے تھکے ہوئے گینٹری کرینوں کا استعمال کرتے ہوئے ایک ہی وقت میں تین مال بردار ٹرینوں کو تیزی سے تبدیل کیا جا سکتا ہے۔ ۔
میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے وفاقی وزیر ریلوے محمد اعظم خان سواتی نے کہا کہ پاکستان کے لیے کاروبار کے مواقع کو ابھارنے میں مدد کرنا ان کے لیے بے حد خوشی کی بات ہے۔ اس سے پاکستان کے لیے کنٹینرز کی آمدورفت تین گنا ہو جائے گی۔ چھ ماہ میں، یہ ریلوے کو پاکستان کا ایک منافع بخش ادارہ بھی بنا دے گا،" انہوں نے وضاحت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان ریلویز کراچی پورٹ ٹرسٹ کے تعاون سے اس فریٹ سروس کے لیے کئی ٹرمینلز بنائے گا۔ "مشترکہ قدر اور مشترکہ فوائد کے ساتھ، ہم سب ایک منافع بخش کاروبار کی طرف جائیں گے،" انہوں نے مزید کہا۔
