First-ever ginger harvest inaugurated in Pakistan

According to the news sources, this was the first ginger harvest planted in Pakistan. The crop was grown in 11 months. Being an essential ingredient of Pakistani cuisine, ginger is high in demand but unfortunately, it is not grown here, and all the crop is imported to meet domestic needs.

At the event, participants learned from experts about the workable production and management of ginger and how to properly harvest the crop.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sania said: “Ginger can emerge as a major crop and can be a game-changer for the farming community. Agriculture is profoundly linked to poverty alleviation in Pakistan. Government, private sector, research institutions, innovators, and farmers can work together to build synergies and develop agri-value chains. This will lead to greater impact for poverty alleviation, livelihoods creation, economic growth, and foreign trade boosting.”

Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Director Vegetable Research Institute, Faisalabad Muhammad Najeebullah, and other experts are attendees of the ceremony.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق پاکستان میں ادرک کی یہ پہلی فصل ہے۔ فصل 11 ماہ میں اگائی گئی۔ پاکستانی کھانوں کا لازمی جزو ہونے کی وجہ سے ادرک کی مانگ بہت زیادہ ہے لیکن بدقسمتی سے اسے یہاں نہیں اگایا جاتا اور تمام فصل ملکی ضروریات کو پورا کرنے کے لیے درآمد کی جاتی ہے۔
تقریب میں، شرکاء نے ماہرین سے ادرک کی قابل عمل پیداوار اور انتظام اور فصل کی صحیح طریقے سے کٹائی کے بارے میں معلومات حاصل کیں۔
اس موقع پر بات کرتے ہوئے، ڈاکٹر ثانیہ نے کہا: "ادرک ایک بڑی فصل کے طور پر ابھر سکتی ہے اور کسان برادری کے لیے گیم چینجر ثابت ہو سکتی ہے۔ پاکستان میں غربت کے خاتمے سے زراعت کا گہرا تعلق ہے۔ حکومت، پرائیویٹ سیکٹر، تحقیقی ادارے، اختراع کار اور کسان مل کر کام کر سکتے ہیں تاکہ ہم آہنگی پیدا کی جا سکے اور زرعی قدر کی زنجیروں کو تیار کیا جا سکے۔ یہ غربت کے خاتمے، معاش کی تخلیق، اقتصادی ترقی، اور غیر ملکی تجارت کو فروغ دینے پر زیادہ اثر ڈالے گا۔"
تقریب میں چیئرمین پاکستان ایگریکلچرل ریسرچ کونسل (پی اے آر سی) ڈاکٹر غلام محمد علی، ڈائریکٹر ویجیٹیبل ریسرچ انسٹی ٹیوٹ فیصل آباد محمد نجیب اللہ اور دیگر ماہرین نے شرکت کی۔
