Delay in the overhaul of Ayub Bridge resented

According to news sources, the Ayub bridge is used to travel to upper parts of the country including Abbottabad and elsewhere in the Hazara division. This bridge also connects Havelian with the upper parts of the country on KKH at N-35, which was damaged in July 2021 due to heavy rainfall in the Abbottabad district.

Even with the passage of almost five months, no repair work started or announced regarding the repair of a bridge and the people are being forced to pass through the damaged bridge, which has become a major threat to the lives of motorists and commuters.

According to the locals, After the Ayub Bridge was damaged, the National Highway Authority officials rushed to the spot and closed the bridge, and diverted traffic to the old small bridge. While talking to the media locals said, that this small bridge has been further damaged and seems to be at a dangerous level which may cause an accident.

The people of Havelian demanded the government and NHA to start the repair work on the Ayub bridge as the alternative bridge has no such capacity to knob heavy traffic. When contacted, NHA Deputy Director Ameer Khan said that rehabilitation of Ayub Bridge in Havelain at N-35 is at an advanced stage of procurement as per PEPRA rules. He said that “rectification work is complex in nature being the specialized job, estimated time for reopening of the bridge is six months after mobilization of the contractor”.

ایبٹ آباد: قراقرم ہائی وے (کے کے ایچ) پر واقع ایوب پل کی مرمت کے کام میں حد سے زیادہ تاخیر ملک کے بالائی علاقوں میں سفر کرنے والے موٹرسائیکلوں اور مسافروں کی زندگیوں کو خطرے میں ڈال رہی ہے۔

خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق ایوب پل کو ایبٹ آباد سمیت ملک کے بالائی علاقوں اور ہزارہ ڈویژن کے دیگر علاقوں میں جانے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ یہ پل حویلیاں کو ملک کے بالائی حصوں سے (کے کے ایچ) پر (این-35) پر بھی جوڑتا ہے، جو جولائی 2021 میں ایبٹ آباد ضلع میں شدید بارشوں کی وجہ سے ٹوٹ گیا تھا۔
تقریباً پانچ ماہ گزرنے کے باوجود نہ کسی پل کی مرمت کا کوئی کام شروع ہوا اور نہ ہی کسی پل کی مرمت کے حوالے سے اعلان کیا گیا اور عوام تباہ شدہ پل سے گزرنے پر مجبور ہیں جو کہ گاڑیوں اور مسافروں کی زندگیوں کے لیے بڑا خطرہ بن گیا ہے۔
مقامی لوگوں کے مطابق ایوب پل کو نقصان پہنچنے کے بعد نیشنل ہائی وے اتھارٹی کے حکام نے موقع پر پہنچ کر پل کو بند کر دیا اور ٹریفک کو پرانے چھوٹے پل کی طرف موڑ دیا۔ میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے مقامی لوگوں کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ چھوٹا پل مزید نقصان پہنچا ہے اور لگتا ہے کہ خطرناک سطح پر ہے جس سے حادثہ پیش آسکتا ہے۔
حویلیاں کے لوگوں نے حکومت اور این ایچ اے سے مطالبہ کیا کہ ایوب پل کی مرمت کا کام شروع کیا جائے کیونکہ متبادل پل میں اتنی گنجائش نہیں کہ وہ بھاری ٹریفک کو روک سکے۔ رابطہ کرنے پر این ایچ اے کے ڈپٹی ڈائریکٹر امیر خان نے کہا کہ (این-35) پر حویلیاں میں ایوب پل کی بحالی پیپرا قوانین کے مطابق خریداری کے اعلیٰ مرحلے میں ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ "اصلاح کا کام خصوصی نوعیت کا کام ہونے کی وجہ سے پیچیدہ ہے، پل کو دوبارہ کھولنے کا تخمینہ وقت ٹھیکیدار کے متحرک ہونے کے بعد چھ ماہ ہے"۔
