CM to work on KP Cities Improvement Project

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the quarters concerned to take concrete steps to put KP Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) on the ground by acquiring land to launch physical work.

He was chairing a meeting to review progress made so far on the KPCIP, said an official handout. Minister for Local Government Akbar Ayub, administrative secretaries, and other relevant authorities attended the meeting.

The participants took a detailed review of the progress made so far on the project. It was informed that KPCIP was being launched with the financial assistance of the Asian Development Bank in the five major cities of the province, including Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad, Mardan, and Swat.

The purpose was to improve the quality of the life of citizens through improved municipal infrastructure and strengthened institutional capacities of municipal setups in the selected cities.

It was told that under the project, 23 sub-projects have been planned which included the provision of clean drinking water through replacement and construction of water supply network, construction of sewerage system, development of green spaces, new sewage treatment plant, solid waste management, and other civic services.

The elaborated engineering design of the project has been submitted whereas tender documents were in progress.

وزیراعلیٰ محمود خان نے متعلقہ حلقوں کو ہدایت کی ہے کہ جسمانی کام شروع کرنے کے لئے زمین حاصل کرکے کے پی شہروں کی بہتری کے منصوبے (کے پی سی آئی پی) کی بنیاد رکھنے کے لئے ٹھوس اقدامات اٹھائیں۔

ایک سرکاری ہینڈ آؤٹ نے بتایا کہ وہ کے پی سی آئی پی میں اب تک ہونے والی پیشرفت کا جائزہ لینے کے لئے ایک اجلاس کی صدارت کر رہے تھے۔ وزیر بلدیات اکبر ایوب ، انتظامی سکریٹریوں اور دیگر متعلقہ حکام نے اجلاس میں شرکت کی۔

شرکا نے پروجیکٹ پر اب تک کی پیشرفت کا تفصیلی جائزہ لیا۔ بتایا گیا کہ کے پی سی آئی پی ایشین ڈویلپمنٹ بینک کی مالی مدد سے صوبے کے پانچ بڑے شہروں بشمول پشاور ، کوہاٹ ، ایبٹ آباد ، مردان اور سوات میں شروع کی جارہی ہے۔
