CM Sindh calls for construction of nullahs after the extensive damage caused to infrastructure amidst the rainfall

It was brought to light that the province had received 396 percent more rain than normally recorded in the monsoon. This resulted in both loss of life as well as extensive damage to infrastructure. The number of structures damaged has swelled up to a whopping 2807 in number. This also includes around 388 km of roads, disconnecting the rural and urban areas. Apart from that, around 15.547 houses have been damaged while around 2807 have been fully washed away.

Severe damage was caused to 35 sewage lines which were owned by the Karachi Water Board, causing great distress for the people living near the sewage lines. Three bridges also collapsed which were located in the districts of Gharbi and Malir. Major roadways were also affected including the EBM causeway and the Crossing causeway

Therefore to counter this increasingly worsening situation, the construction of Nullahs was suggested and the allocation of proper funds was requested.

کراچی: وزیر اعظم سے اپنی ملاقات کے دوران، وزیر اعلیٰ سندھ مراد علی شاہ نے شدید بارشوں سے شہر میں 2807 ڈھانچوں کو پہنچنے والے بڑے پیمانے پر نقصانات پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔
یہ بات سامنے لائی گئی کہ صوبے میں مون سون میں معمول سے 396 فیصد زیادہ بارش ہوئی ہے۔ اس کے نتیجے میں جانی نقصان کے ساتھ ساتھ بنیادی ڈھانچے کو بھی کافی نقصان پہنچا۔ تباہ شدہ ڈھانچے کی تعداد بڑھ کر 2807 تک پہنچ گئی ہے۔ اس میں دیہی اور شہری علاقوں کا رابطہ منقطع کرنے والی تقریباً 388 کلومیٹر سڑکیں بھی شامل ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ تقریباً 15.547 مکانات کو نقصان پہنچا ہے جبکہ تقریباً 2807 مکمل طور پر بہہ گئے ہیں۔
کراچی واٹر بورڈ کی ملکیتی 35 سیوریج لائنوں کو شدید نقصان پہنچا جس سے سیوریج لائنوں کے قریب رہنے والے لوگوں کو شدید پریشانی کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔ تین پل بھی گر گئے جو ضلع غربی اور ملیر میں واقع تھے۔ ای بی ایم کاز وے اور کراسنگ کاز وے سمیت بڑی سڑکیں بھی متاثر ہوئیں
لہٰذا اس تیزی سے بگڑتی ہوئی صورتحال کا مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے نالوں کی تعمیر کا مشورہ دیا گیا اور مناسب فنڈز مختص کرنے کی درخواست کی گئی۔
