CM okays construction of KN Shah-Kandiaro bridge on Indus

The Sindh government has decided to construct a bridge on the Indus River to provide a direct link between Khairpur Nathan Shah and Kandiaro to improve traffic flows between the two major cities and the surrounding areas.

This was disclosed by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while presiding over the 34rth Public-Private Partnership (PPP) meeting at the CM House on Monday. He said the Works & Services Department had worked out a detailed plan to provide a direct link between Khairpur Nathan Shah and Kandiaro by constructing a bridge over the Indus River to improve the traffic flow between the two major cities and the surrounding areas. The project will significantly reduce travel distance, he added.

The meeting was told that the starting point of the bridge would be the Indus Highway near Khairpur N. Shah at Sita Village and the ending point would be at Kamal Dero in Kandiaro on the National Highway (N5).

The length of the bridge and the roads would be approximately 25 kilometers, excluding the approach roads from N5 and N55 respectively. The bridge over the Indus River would be two kilometers long and the link road on the Khairpur N. Shah side would be 11.5km-long, excluding the approach road from Khairpur NS to Sita Village. The Link Road on the Kandiaro side would be 11.50km, excluding the approach road from N5 to Kamal Dero.

Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro said that the irrigation department had not been taken into confidence about the new project; therefore, the CM directed the irrigation department to have a comprehensive technical study for allied components of the right bank canals.

سندھ حکومت نے خیرپور ناتھن شاہ اور کنڈیارو کے درمیان براہ راست رابطہ فراہم کرنے کے لیے دریائے سندھ پر پل تعمیر کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے تاکہ دونوں بڑے شہروں اور آس پاس کے علاقوں کے درمیان ٹریفک کی روانی کو بہتر بنایا جا سکے۔

اس بات کا انکشاف وزیراعلیٰ سید مراد علی شاہ نے وزیراعلیٰ ہاؤس میں پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ (پی پی پی) کے 34ویں اجلاس کی صدارت کرتے ہوئے کیا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ورکس اینڈ سروسز ڈیپارٹمنٹ نے دریائے سندھ پر پل تعمیر کرکے خیرپور ناتھن شاہ اور کنڈیارو کے درمیان براہ راست رابطہ فراہم کرنے کے لیے ایک تفصیلی منصوبہ بنایا ہے تاکہ دونوں بڑے شہروں اور آس پاس کے علاقوں کے درمیان ٹریفک کی روانی کو بہتر بنایا جا سکے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اس منصوبے سے سفری فاصلے میں نمایاں کمی آئے گی۔

اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ پل کا نقطہ آغاز انڈس ہائی وے خیرپور این شاہ کے قریب سیتا ولیج پر ہوگا اور اختتامی مقام نیشنل ہائی وے (N5) پر کنڈیارو میں کمال ڈیرو پر ہوگا۔

پل اور سڑکوں کی لمبائی تقریباً 25 کلومیٹر ہوگی، بالترتیب N5 اور N55 کی اپروچ سڑکوں کو چھوڑ کر۔

دریائے سندھ پر پل دو کلومیٹر لمبا ہو گا اور خیرپور این شاہ کی طرف سے لنک روڈ 11.5 کلومیٹر لمبی ہو گی، جس میں خیرپور این ایس سے سیتا گاؤں تک اپروچ روڈ کو چھوڑ کر۔ کنڈیارو سائیڈ پر لنک روڈ 11.50 کلومیٹر ہو گی، این 5 سے کمال ڈیرو تک اپروچ روڈ کو چھوڑ کر۔

وزیر آبپاشی جام خان شورو نے کہا کہ نئے منصوبے کے بارے میں محکمہ آبپاشی کو اعتماد میں نہیں لیا گیا۔ لہٰذا، وزیراعلیٰ نے محکمہ آبپاشی کو ہدایت کی کہ دائیں کنارے کی نہروں کے متعلقہ حصوں کے لیے ایک جامع تکنیکی مطالعہ کیا جائے۔
