City Govt approves project to beautify Mall Road, Lahore

According to sources, the Local Government Department has approved the beautification of the historic Mall Road in Lahore. The beautification of the Mall Road will cost Rs 50 crore. The Local Government Department has also taken a look at the city of Bahawalpur and decided to release Rs. 25 crore to restore its historic status.

On the other hand, it was decided to restore the historical status of Multan city. Rs. 30 crore will be spent for the restoration of the historical status of Multan. The Local Government Department approved the said budget for the three cities.

It should be noted that Mall Road Lahore has historical and cultural significance. There are many buildings located here which are examples of Mughal style architecture. There are also buildings built during the British imperial era which were built during the British era and are still in use. Decorated with monuments of different periods, this Road is undoubtedly a witness to history. Museum, Lahore Zoo, Punjab Provincial Assembly, Kurban Lines (Police), Aitchison College are located on Mall Road.

ذرائع کے مطابق محکمہ بلدیات نے لاہور کی تاریخی شاہراہ مال روڈ کو خوبصورت بنانے کی منظوری دے دی ہے، مال روڈ کو خوبصورت بنانے پر پچاس کروڑ روپے خرچ ہونگے۔ محکمہ بلدیات نے بہاولپور شہرپر بھی نظرکرم ڈال دی ہے اور اس کی تاریخی حیثیت کو بحال کرنے کیلئے پچیس کروڑ روپے جاری کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔

دوسری جانب ملتان شہر کی تاریخی حیثیت کو بھی بحال کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا، ملتان کی تاریخی حیثیت کی بحالی کیلئے تیس کروڑ روپے خرچ ہونگے۔ محکمہ بلدیات نےتینوں شہروں کیلئے مذکورہ بجٹ منظور کر لیا۔

واضح رہے کہ مال روڈ لاہور کی تاریخی و ثقافتی اہمیت یہاں واقع کئی عمارات ہیں جو مغل طرز تعمیر کا نمونہ ہیں، یہاں برطانوی سامراجی دور میں تعمیر شدہ عمارات بھی ہیں جو برطانوی دور میں تعمیر کی گئی تھیں اور اب بھی استعمال میں ہیں، دو مختلف ادوار کی یادگاروں سے مزین یہ شاہراہ بلاشبہ تاریخ کی گواہ ہے، مال روڈ پر عجائب گھر، لاہور چڑیا گھر، پنجاب صوبائی اسمبلی، قربان لائنز (پولیس)، ایچیسن کالج واقع ہے.
