CCTVs of housing societies being linked with PSCA

According to the news sources, PSCA Chief Operating Officer Kamran Khan said the decision had been taken in view of the increase in population and the need to expand the surveillance capability.

While directing the meeting he further added that this step will help to control crimes and maintain law and order in the city.

According to the details, this meeting was chaired by the Kamran Khan with representatives of private housing societies at the PSCA Headquarters on Tuesday. The official disclosed in the meeting that the already installed CCTV cameras in the private housing societies would be connected with the authority in the first phase.

He told the participants of the meeting that standard policy guidelines approved by the LDA for integration of the surveillance system with the Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication Centre (PPIC3) in Lahore had also been issued.

“The guidelines need to be executed," Khan added. The safe cities authority will share its security experience and audit system with the housing societies. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority proposed enhancement of the safety and security of the people throughout the city by integrating the surveillance systems of approved societies with the PPIC3 through the dedicated optic fiber cable.

Khan further said the move would help centralize data gathering and improve the police response time and investigation. It will not hamper the current functioning of the housing societies’ surveillance system and will only be used for tracing criminals when required by law enforcement agencies (LEAs).  

According to the news sources, the private housing societies expressed interest in the integration of cameras with the PSCA. However, thousands of CCTV cameras already in- stalled by the PSCA are reportedly dysfunctional.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق پی ایس سی اے کے چیف آپریٹنگ آفیسر کامران خان نے کہا کہ یہ فیصلہ آبادی میں اضافے اور نگرانی کی صلاحیت کو بڑھانے کی ضرورت کے پیش نظر کیا گیا ہے۔
اجلاس کی ہدایت کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اس اقدام سے جرائم پر قابو پانے اور شہر میں امن و امان برقرار رکھنے میں مدد ملے گی۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق کامران خان کی زیر صدارت منگل کو پی ایس سی اے ہیڈ کوارٹرز میں نجی ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیز کے نمائندوں کے ساتھ یہ اجلاس ہوا۔ عہدیدار نے میٹنگ میں انکشاف کیا کہ پرائیویٹ ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیز میں پہلے سے نصب سی سی ٹی وی کیمرے پہلے مرحلے میں اتھارٹی کے ساتھ منسلک کیے جائیں گے۔
انہوں نے اجلاس کے شرکاء کو بتایا کہ لاہور میں پنجاب پولیس انٹیگریٹڈ کمانڈ، کنٹرول اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سنٹر (پی پی آئ سی3) کے ساتھ نگرانی کے نظام کے انضمام کے لیے (ایل ڈی اے) کی جانب سے منظور شدہ معیاری پالیسی گائیڈ لائنز بھی جاری کر دی گئی ہیں۔
خان نے مزید کہا، "ہدایات پر عمل درآمد کرنے کی ضرورت ہے۔" سیف سٹیز اتھارٹی اپنا سیکیورٹی تجربہ اور آڈٹ سسٹم ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیوں کے ساتھ شیئر کرے گی۔ پنجاب سیف سٹیز اتھارٹی نے شہر بھر میں لوگوں کی حفاظت اور سیکیورٹی کو بڑھانے کی تجویز پیش کی۔ سرشار آپٹک فائبر کیبل کے ذریعے (پی پی آئ سی3) کے ساتھ نگرانی کے نظام دیکھے گے.
خان نے مزید کہا کہ اس اقدام سے ڈیٹا اکٹھا کرنے کو مرکزی بنانے اور پولیس کے جوابی وقت اور تفتیش کو بہتر بنانے میں مدد ملے گی۔ یہ ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیوں کے نگرانی کے نظام کے موجودہ کام میں رکاوٹ نہیں ڈالے گا اور اسے صرف مجرموں کا سراغ لگانے کے لیے استعمال کیا جائے گا جب قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں (ایل ای اے ایس) کی ضرورت ہوگی۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق نجی ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیز نے پی ایس سی اے کے ساتھ کیمروں کے انضمام میں دلچسپی ظاہر کی۔ تاہم، (پی ایس سی اے) کے ذریعے پہلے سے نصب ہزاروں سی سی ٹی وی کیمرے مبینہ طور پر غیر فعال ہیں۔
